Good news! I just looked through my service receipts. These are the 6 software updates they did on mine: 21-054-15 08-066-15 24-003-15 08-071-15 18-043-15 21-030-15 I cannot find anything on TSB 21-054-15... Maybe they loaded something wrong and that's why!!?
Got my jeep back this morning. I woll post what was done after i get off of work. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
Cory, do tell what happened with yours?!!! I'm dying to know! Taking mine in for the 3rd time on Tuesday....
@JeepCares, I've got a 2015 9 speed automatic trail hawk. When I decelerate after going 40ish for a little while it seems to stick in a high gear (you can hear the high revs) and then when I either flip it into manual mode or reach about 33 MPH it makes a *thump* sound like I ran over something. I'm taking it to a dealership here soon but the regional shop manager for Larry H Miller here said he hasn't heard anything about it so I hope they don't turn me away too quickly.
When you take your jeep in do not drop it off with out riding with a transmission tech first ... Make sure he knows exactly what the problem is. They will just do a quick relearn of your transmission and send you packing. Mine is slamming into gear now after a few different updates I know ive been lazy and need to post the updates they have done to mine but mine is definatly going back for the 7th visit.(46 days total in the shop) 29 days for just the ignition switch(which functions perfectly after 29 days with out my jeep , yup 1 full payment out the window while i drove around a journey getting 16 mpg looking like a soccer mom.) This jeep has costed me more then 3 extra payments already in just gas driving to and from the dealership. They need to recall these POS of they cant figure put how to fix them. Sgt_Strife, Unfortunately, I was unable to locate a service bulletin related to your concern. I would be happy to follow up with you and your dealership at the time of your appointment. If you would like additional assistance please send me a private message with your VIN and contact information. Thank you,
My updates in order Tsb 08-071-15 Tsb 21-054-15 Tsb 21-030-15 Tsb 18-043-15 Tsb 08-071-15 Tsb 08-066-15 Tsb 08-062-15 Replaced parts Switch ig 08050082 Lock kit 23017006 Screw hex 18050007 Looks like on 3 different visits that they told me they did "quick relearns" of the transmission that they did not document this what so ever so that makes me concerned. Heading back to shop next thursday. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
Took my jeep into the dealer yesterday. They were pretty quick. Attached is a photo of the work they did. The downfall is they still didn't fix the core problem. The took it for a test drive after the "fix" and aparantly it didn't manifest itself on that drive. Here is a short video to show what's going on. Just to recap the problem from my previous posts, my transmission, when it's auto downshifting, sticks in a higher gear and then at some random time during deceleration it slams into a lower gear (you can hear it). @JeepCares, any pointers here?
Went to shop last week , they again did a quick relearn on my POS Now it shift 50 times worse then before and they are telling me it is a normal operating function. I fucking hate my renegade at this point. So now i have to drive a jeep that slams into every single gear untill i find someone that is willing to admit there is a problem. And fca(emily) told me that they will not have a FCA engineer look at my jeep. Only jeep deslership mechanics of my choice. (which everyone i have met has told me they have zero training on this transmission all they can do is look up info on their computer). A 1971 ford f100with 230k miles shifts 10000 times smoother then my renegade. And they keep telling me im compairing apples to oranges. Yes i am compairing a 45 year old vehicle that shifts properly to a renegade that SLAMS you around the jeep because it slips every time it shifts. I will be taking my jeep to the 3rd dealership and its 9th visit to the shop begining of next week. Since December 6th ive been able to drive my jeep 600 miles (300 of which is dealers test driving it while i left it there and not refilling my gas.) I say good luck to anyone that plans to purchase a jeep dodge fiat or Chrysler. Clearly the worse compnay to deal with. And what ever you do make sure you have a second form of transportation because your jeep will need constant trips to the shop. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
Got a call today to tell me i need to bring my jeep back into the shop.. This is frustrating but slightly awesome that they are finally being active to solve this problem. Should have jeep at a dealership by next tuesday. Till then my 20k$ jeep will do more driveway paperweight duty. 5 months of stress continues. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
To explain something the technician would need to be trained on this transmission. To date both dealership main transmission mechanics in Cornelius, Nc and salisbury,NC have told me that they have had no training on the zf 9 speed automatic...its all "learn as it breaks" as the one tech referred too. This is on my dollar. At this point i could have bought a fully loaded trailhawk for the added expense in my trips back to the dealership and rescheduling work around my POS brand new jeep renegade. I am new here but have been seriously looking at both the Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawks. I am in no way wanting to offend any current owners but my research on this ZF 9 spd tranny has caused me to put changing vehicles on the backburner for now. I currently own a 2014 Jeep Compass 6spd auto (no cvt for me) Below are some posts I have over on the jeep forum. Found another writeup explaining the ZF 9SPD. Some good comments also. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...-on-the-leash/ 8 spd anyone? Redline Reviews says this in his Dec 25th 2015 review but he doesn't say what month of manufactured vehicle he has. Its a Renegade but same 9spd tranny A couple of the commenters in the Redline Review were pointing to the use of "dog clutches" on the ZF9 spd as a problem vs the normal clutches on the ZF8spd? I am not that mechanical to know whether these commenters are making a valid point? I wanted to ask the Jeep Engineers but I am not a "Premium Members". Anyways that's what I've found in looking at reviews on the internet. Here is my summary of what I have gleaned from the internet reviews and comments. The ZF 9spd tranny is trying to improve gas milage by 10-12% over previous auto trannys and be also versatile enough to run on the European autobahns. To be an all world tranny they changed the design inside by adding two dog clutches instead of the traditional clutches throughout the tranny.. IMO reliability and customer drivability is more important than the above two goals so any vehicle with this 9 spd tranny is on the backburner for me for now Hope this helps.
