Just curious if anyone has been mindful of their fuel economy both before and after making particular modifications. Mostly I'm wondering how tires and wheels, or lifts, or spacers, or some combination of these have affected fuel economy, but I'm curious even how things like the added weight of rocker panel protection has affected your fuel economy.
"With the Trail Hawk I went from 24-25 MPH highway to 22 highway with the Daystar lift, Renegade Ready 1" spacers, a roof rack, Rocky Road super sliders and BFG TKO2s 225/65R17 tires. Not that big of a difference.
Like Thawk, I saw a loss in MPG after installing a roof rack but saw even more after installing Cooper STT Pro's. Aggressive tires simply have a lot more rolling resistance and that more than anything will reduce MPG.
I dropped to about 21 after KO2 tires, daystar lift and roof rack. I also put the spare tire on the roof rack. Coming back from my last trip I hit a 30 mile stretch of construction that slowed us down to 55mph. During that stretch I was averaging 24. So it seems like the rack and spare tire are having the most effect.
