Purchased my first ever Jeep after driving a Scion XA for the past few years and I have to say I'm in love with my 2016 Renegade Trailhawk.
There's not many trails here in Georgia so getting in the red Georgia clay was the next best option. Hoping to go out west this summer and doing a little more fun stuff with TH
Thanks! No fun in having a Jeep that you're gonna keep clean all the time now is there? Honestly hoping to make it out to Moab this summer if work allows it.
I was thinking Gemini Bridges and Chicken Corners but I'm not really sure what would be best since I'm a newbie at off reading.
I'm pretty much a newby too, don't worry Check out my thread here of my Moab trip last summer: http://toasterjeep.com/index.php?threads/moab-trail-hawk-rock-crawling.579/ Do you plan on having any mods done to your BU before then?
Oh I have. Honestly that's what kinda got me fired up about going and I plan on putting in the lift and getting some bigger MTs but other than that I haven't really thought of what else I could do.
That's an awesome start! Check out @wayoflife's write ups if you are going to install the lift yourself (he did a killer job at explaining it). The lift and MT's will definitely give you more options down there. Will you be going with anyone else? If not, I'd stick to some not so risky stuff like I did my first time. If you can ride with a group or just one other, you should totally try Hell's Revenge. I plan on doing that next time I can get down there and I watched a Cherokee TH do it (which has much worse approach and break angles). I only did the first leg of Fin's N Things and Baby Lions Back (as long as the water isn't much deeper than 19") but you could probably to the rest. It's just safe to have someone else around in case you need a winch.
I really wanted to get a group together and go but again I haven't truly planned it out enough, but I know I will be taking a few more trips after that just to really get to experience everything Moab has to offer. Also, would love to get the winch bumper and rock rails that Daystar has to offer but that would definitely have to be a little farther down the road.
Yea, that all costs a lot of money My wife and I are expecting our first in July so I wont be able to make it to Moab this next summer but when I do I'll let you know in case you want to come out and join us. It'd be fun to have another BU to roll with.
Congratulations! And that sounds like an awesome plan. I hope to make it a yearly trip out there so I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later.
