I just picked up my 2015 Renegade last week and have noticed some noise from the front end when braking. When coming to a stop while going down hill or if I stop a little hard there's kind of a knocking noise in the front end I think coming from the passenger side tire area. Anyone else experienced this on a new Renegade? Is it normal and will clear up over time or should I bring it in to have the brakes checked out. No issues with stopping, it's smooth and reliable. Just a little knocking sound sometimes. Thanks Eric
Are you sure it's not your ESP system kicking in? It essentially uses your brake system in a series of rapid pulses to assist in a controlled stop and it can sound kind of funky.
Not really sure, it seems to be occurring frequently though. My other vehicles have Electronic stability control and I've never noticed it kicking in on any of them this regularly. At this point there doesn't seem to be any issues with it stopping so I'll probably just monitor it for a few days.
IF it is your ESP system and it's kicking in frequently, you could have an issue with your steering wheel not being 100% centered or have a speed sensor that is having issues. This would cause your Renegade to think you're in a slide and the ESP would activate to compensate for it.
Well than that does change things a little bit. Perhaps I will make arrangements to have it checked out then. Thanks for the info.
