Why Does My Renegade Do This?

Well, this is my first post here. I've got a 2016 Trailhawk that is almost fully loaded and I gotta say, I pretty much love this thing. It's my 4th Jeep and by far, it has the most comfort and the best ride. It's my wife daily driver so I only drive it on weekends or when doing family stuff. My daily driver is a 2012 JKU Rubi w/ 3" lift on 35's. It's awesome off road but handles like tank on road.

Anyways, we took it up to a friends cabin for the weekend and I noticed a few issues. First off, we parked it at the beach and cranked the tunes. Yep, the beats system sucks but that wasn't the problem. The real problem is that the stereo automatically shuts off every 20 minutes. Pretty annoying having to turn it back on every 20 mins. I was only using the stereos power button to turn it on. I tried pushing the start button (without pressing the break pedal) but that turns on the lights and everything else as well. I was worried this would kill the battery so back to the previous method I went. Does anyone have a work-around for this?

Now, since I already have my wrangler for off-roading, I decided that the Renegade would only be for on-road use and maybe light trails here and there. Well, curiosity got the best of me so we decided to test out the Reny's true capabilities. We took it to a well known trail that has a few massive hill climbs with a loose surface. Although we ran into some problem spots, the rene eventually made it's way up on it's own. So here's the scenario, I'm coming up to a real steep hill climb and I can see that it has a few sections with very loose rocks on it. I start to accelerate to gain momentum but the engine wouldn't go over 2000 Rpm's - even with my foot to the floor. Needless to say, it started to slow down and eventually stopped moving when I hit the loose stuff. I tried cycling through the different off-road modes but nothing worked. Just wouldn't go past 2000 rpm's. It's like the traction control system was defeating itself. All I needed was a bit more power to get up the hill but it refused to give it to me. I eventually had a back down a bit and adjust my line. The rene eventually made it's way up so we finished the trail and headed back to the cabin for beers.

Obviously some better (than stock) tires would have made a difference and although we had some difficulty, the renegade did make it up a pretty brutal hill under it's own power. It did waaaaay better than expected, not to mention with comfort and very little fuel burned compared to my jk. So the question is, why did it behave this way? Why wouldn't it allow me to use more power? Is there a way to adjust the traction control settings? Or override the system completely?

Traction control I want to say can be disengaged by holding the traction control button for 5 seconds, I think is what I read.

On the latitude, pressing the button turns off traction control, and holding it down for either 5 or 10 seconds (it feels like an eternity, I can't remember which) turns off the electronic stability control.

Well i did try turning off the TC but I forgot about holding it down for a few seconds. I wonder if that would have allowed more power.

Quick question on the side. If holding for 5sec. Turn the the stability control off. Does holding it for 5sec. Turn it back on as well?

If I remember correctly, you just press it once to turn it all back on.

So is it safe to say I'm the only one that is having these issues both with the stereo and the loss of power? Someone else must be experiencing something similar.

I'm not aware of a work around for the radio for the push start folks. Not sure if those with keyed start have the same problem

The stereo thing is something you can set through the uconnect, unfortunately the options are 20 minutes or turn off with engine. The traction control and esc turn off when you change the 4wd setting from auto to any of the 4wd settings, so i don't think that was your problem. Did you try putting it into 1st gear?

Yep I tried first gear. The only thing I did't try was holding the esc button for 10 seconds.

You should be able to just leave the ignition in the "on" position and not kill the battery as there should be battery run down protection and it will kill power once the battery dips low. So if the music stops go to the Jeep and fire it up for a few minute, let her charge up again and back you go to tunes. Im not certain that all Renegades have the run down protection though.

Couple things, my radio does same as yours, I'm about to just run a hot wire to the radio. The hill climb thing is weird to me. Last January, I nearly got stuck in snow out on the lake, but after turning off traction control, no amount of wheel spin was limiting my power. Until, I think, the jeep sensed side to side motion, that imeadiately reduced power.
As long as my steering input was low, wheel spin doesn't much matter. Maybe
