Trailhawk uconnect navigation. How does it connect?

    does it connect via sat like the xm radio? so if im in the middle of moab nowhere without cell signal ill still have nav? like the xm radio?

    Interesting question. I did notice the feature where you can record your route/trail. So I guess if you're not sure you could always record from the start of your run so that you can at least get back if you get lost. Nonetheless following this thread to see where it goes.

    The nav is done by Garmin. It utilizes satellites and the maps are preloaded. It bounces back your gps based on this and references with these maps. The Uconnect features - like remote starting your jeep from your phone are done via cellular network. The Garmin app also references with The XM to show real time traffic. I did a trip down to Denver and it alerted me of an accident then it asked if I wanted to reroute to avoid. I accepted the reroute and it saved us 30 minutes of crawling traffic. It was amazing.

    So garmin will be useful in middle of nowhere? Or just middle of denver?

    The Garmin navigation will work everywhere.

    Thats pretty sweet. I still plan on loading my ipad up w trail knowledge but i heard alot of trails in moab were on there.
