looking for a sturdy, easy to use, and somewhat affordable 2 bike rack to go from 2" tow package on back of jeep. bonus for ones that affect my departure angle the least.

I'll be tagging along I'm in the same boat as you.

    I went with this one:

Heininger 2035 Advantage SportsRack FlatRack 2 Bike Platform Hitch Mounted Rack (Fits 1.25" and 2") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010B8HT7M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_qP8zxb4CGJWN2

For me I was looking for a tray style rack that was relatively inexpensive and it fit the bill. It also folds up vertically when you're not using it. That would help with the departure angle you're looking for.

Now, if you have a factory hitch it will sit a little higher, but also stick out a little farther. I have the Draw-Tite after market hitch and it sits below the bumper, but tucks under it more.

If money was no object, I would have gone with 1UpUSA. They make an excellent bike rack.

Here's a few other views to give you an idea of what the angles look like:

I don't know how sturdy it is, but it works fine for hauling the bike around town.

The width with the platform where the tires sit is adjustable?

Yes. There are three different settings to adjust them inboard or outboard. In the photos, they're sitting furthest outboard.

It was the best I found, but there might be a better deal out there somewhere.

If you are looking for something beefier and with integrated locks for the bikes and hitch pin check out Kuat bike racks. I just bought their NV 2.0 model. The sherpa 2.0 is A little bit less money. Best feature is it tilts a few different ways to get in and out of the lift gate with the bikes on it and store it upright out of the way when not in use.

The Sherpa is $400 and the NV is $700 roughly.... The locks are cable locks that come out of the end of the tube opposite of where the wheel craddle is. Im getting mine today and can take pics of it for you to see later.

That's a good looking rack, but for that kind of money, I'd take a look at 1UpUSA.

These are canadian prices. Still expensive but worth every penny! The NV I just picked up also has a removable work stand! Neat!

I've been super happy with my 1upUSA. I don't have a renegade yet but will definitely use it when I do. I've been using the bike rack on my JK for about five years now. It was pricey but I believe well worth it.
