I've a 2016 TH and it has push button start, remote start and come to think of it there isn't a single physical keyhole anywhere. Inside my key fob though, I have a physical key. Well, HAD a physical key. I went out to get some groceries earlier and when I came back I realized the key fell out of the fob. Everything still works though from what i can tell. So what is the point of the physical key inside? My backup fob has the key in it still so I'm not completely out of keys.

here is my recent example of why you want that key. me and wife are getting groceries, tried remote start from inside as it was hot out. walking to car we noticed it hadn't started. Figured we to far out. Went to grab handle and it didn't unlock, weird? Pull out key fob and nothing works, wife digs hers out of purse and it won't work either. Had to use that key to get in, which set off alarm. Managed to disable alarm and start car using the push fob against button low battery procedure. Dash kept displaying "key has left area" . Let me drive home though and has worked normal since. Without that key I would have been screwed.

I can see it being handy to have a key in that situation, but I literally don't have anywhere to insert the key. Unless I'm missing it being hidden somewhere

How about the glove box? Ours has a lock on it. Latitude with key ignition though.

I have a locking mechanism on my glove box and that little key locks it for me. :) That is the only time I've used that key so far. That sucks that it fell out of your fob.

I actually was able to locate the fob. That specific key won't lock in though. I tried the key from the 2nd fob and it locks into the first. The first key won't lock into the second fob either. I've had them a week as of today. Is it worth getting at the dealership about this?

I probably would, since the key has no chip inside(or it shouldn't since it doesn't start the vehicle) it should be cheap to replace.

If you were to be out running errands with your fob missing the key and the battery was too low to unlock the doors, you would be stuck.

Went to the dealership today.. They said they'd be happy to order me a new one and they would check prices. After a short discussion I was able to convince them it is a warranty issue. They figured out though it was a bent pin preventing the key from locking. They were able to bend it back with pliers, but still said they would order me a new one. It's gonna take 2-3 weeks. Not a bit deal though as they let me keep my pliers repaired one also.

Mine fell out too, and I never take it out of my pocket, until I get home. Nor have I ever even used it. It's just another problem of things I have run into with my jeep. I've only had it 6 months, but seems like I bought it yesterday, since the dealership has had it all this time. I tried to order a replacement in the beginning of May, at $36 and kept getting told it was on back order, on back order, back order, and finally it was suppose to come June 2. When I called the day before they said it should be here by tomorrow, June 2. And when went to pick it up, Chrysler apparently cancelled it and then to reorder it, it jumped up to $112.

It's been a few weeks and ive still not heard back from them about it. I'm not super worried about it as they were able to repair the one i already had. It was more about the principal behind it. I'm still waiting on my plates also so when they finally come in i'll ask them about it. I went out exploring a ORV park in my area today and felt weird with the temp registration and all. Nothing screams "new guy" like still having the temp registration on the window haha.
