    Hi All,

I have a check engine light that comes on and off at random times. Been in to the dealership twice, first time they reset and told me there was no error code (which is a lie, lol) then the 2nd time the light went off before I got it to the dealership, so they said they couldnt do anything. Also another lie, so I guess I'm just going to live with this for the life of my renegade. ]

Also went out and bought a code reader, as these guys pretend there is no code and got the following error code.

    Fault Code: P04db

Any help on how to deal with the dealership or if anyone knows what this error code is would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately code readers can be... temperamental..?

Idk if that's the word I want but the code might mean something else in a Jeep than a Ford. That being said the crankcase encloses the crankshaft your pistons are connected to, of which I doubt there's a problem.

Ok, they finally figured out what was wrong. There was a cracked tube that was messing with the vapor lock (no idea what it's actually called, but messed with the pressure). They were able to find it by running smoke/steam through the system and saw it coming out of a small crack.

Have been check engine light free for awhile.

Although the tipping point for this was one morning this winter started the jeep up and noticed no heat coming into the vehicle (fan working). Then all of a sudden the engine overheated and I pulled over at a gas station. The coolant was literally boiling in the reservoir and it was minus 30 Celsius out.

Let the jeep sit, noticed the coolant was low. Topped it up and headed straight to the dealership. They couldn't find the exact cause of this, although they updated the software and found the cracked pipe/tube. Also they said the coolant probably wasn't boiling and it was air bubbles......I was there..it was definitely boiling.

Posting this as hoping it may help someone with their ongoing engine light issues.

Back in the shop today. The radio stopped working. The display is on but unable to use any music related controls.

Uconnect 5.0 unit needs to be replaced and they have to order it. So no music for awhile plus it's 2 visits to the dealership.

Even crazier, service told me they had 2 other renegades today with Uconnect that broke and need to be replaced.
