Yeah, I figured you must live "in town." Truth be told, if I had to drive in traffic, maybe...maybe...I'd buy an auto. But hey, I got outta the city decades age--and I'm never going back. :)

BTW, in my area, I'm told by local dealers that a LOT of people want manual transmissions. The local Honda dealer said he wished Honda would offer more vehicles with manuals--and that they actually charge more for a used vehicle if it has a manual transmission, such is the demand.

FWIW, the Renegade I bought was brought in from Alberta...

My experience looking for a 4x4 (car, truck, van, SUV) in Austin Tx, was very difficult. Dealers and car lots in Austin just don't stock and sale 4x4s. low demand. If they get a 4x4 in on trade the quickly get ride of it at auction or ship it out on trade. I lived and worked in Austin many years ago.

I live on the island of Kauai and they never got any 4wd Renegades of any kind at the dealership here. They wanted me to order one as well. After researching all over the state, I found a blue one over on the island of Hawaii. It had things I wanted and things I didn't need. I had driven the auto and the standard here. It was easy for me to decide on the standard 6 speed as the auto shifted weirdly and could barely get out of its own way. Mine has the 6.5" stereo with navigation (I already know where everything is on this little island). It has heated seats and steering wheel (never cold enough here for that, although I did use the heated seats on a couple cool mornings...nice!). The main thing it had was 4wd and 6-speed. I also loved the color. The dealer here got it shipped over for no extra charge. I, too, did all the research on the automatic and saw so many people not liking it and having problems. Driving the two made all the difference to me. I also didn't like the beats stereo as many people had troubles with that as well.

I'm still having a hard time finding a 4x4 manny. I found a few FWD manual 75TH anniversary and a few 4x4 autos. At least the mannuals have the MySky. That was something I wanted. I figure I'll use the manual a lot more than I'll use the 4x4. Tough choices I know. First world problems.

The one I bought has only two options--the "cold weather package" and the backup camera (on top of the "North" trim level, which is the same as "Latitude" in the US). I definitely wanted the cold weather package for the heated seats and steering wheel, as I live in a place with real winter (main reason I want 4WD as well--we get snow here!). Didn't really want the backup camera, but it was on the car, so...I kinda wish I could transfer it to my wife's car, she'd love one.

What I can't imagine is why any dealer in Hawaii would bring in Renegades with the cold weather package, but not bring in 4WD ones...

I'd love to have a manual 4x4. But out doesn't seem to be in the cards. I don't go off roading, so it was a luxury. But out world have been nice. The MySky was something I really wanted. Beats and back up camera, I don't care... But it comes with, so I havta take it. Manual, MySky, 4x4 were priorities in that order.

Since you are in Texas, look at Everett in Springdale AR. Bought my 75A from there last weekend for 23k, new with 1.4T, 6MT, 4WD, and they were pretty good to deal with.

It was a 5hr drive for me across AR, but 6k less than 3 miles away....so there's that.
