I traded my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer for a 2015 Limited Edition. I was disappointed that I lost a bit of cargo space, but I definitely gained gas mileage! Considering I run down to the city a good bit, this is definitely a plus. My trailblazer also needed a lot of work for its age, so the smart choice was to just go ahead and buy something new.
In addition to coming from JK to TH one stipulation it had to accommodate my 5'2 & hubbys 6'2 for ride and drive comfort. Hubby actually a little more comfortable to drive in the TH haha. For us empty nesters w 2 dogs it should be good travel vehicle. Definitely good commuter for me. More of my 2 cents worth.
I had a 2004 Subaru Forester xt 2.5 turbo running at stage 2. Surprisingly was a pretty good car, just outgrew it and realized I would have more fun in a jeep. Surprisingly the jeep gets a hell of a lot better gas mileage. So all around it was a better decision for me.
I came from a 2012 Chevy Sonic hatchback. That car is now going to my daughter who just turned 16. My wife had a 4door 2014 Wrangler Polar Edition. She loved it but was looking for something a little smaller. So, we traded it in for a 2door Sahara for her and a Renegade TH for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I had the same car but with the auto Trans. For the 2 1/2years that I had it I had in the shop 11 times just for the transmission! Tried to get Ford to buy it back and got told "Take us to Court"
I am not sure how to be jealous here. That fact that you have 5 awesome unique jeeps or a garage for each of them. What I would do for a 5 car garage!
Ok, 1997 Ford Taurus (SHO) --> 2001 Ford Windstar --> 2011 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD, --> 2015 Jeep Renegade Latitude 6sd 4x4. The windstar was the best family car for little kids ( x3) Many road trips, sporting events and weekend camp trips. With the teenagers the Explorer was good, still load up enough for a weekend camping trip. Now kids have their own cars and we never used the third row of the Explorer. Driving the explorer just as daily commuter was terrible. (MPG. 16~ 18.) Long road trips still nice (MPG ~ 20). Since getting the Jeep ( Feb 16) have not missed the Explorer once. Obliviously not taking all the kids camping for the weekend in it. But for the two of us commuting around town and weekend getaway its been great. Have not gone on a long road trip yet. In a few weeks taking it to Reno. So excited to see if i can hit that elusive 30 MPG. Explorer compared to Renegade. Enjoy Renegade around town more. Great maneuvering in and out of parking lots, Reversing etc. The Explorer was terrible to see out of, lots of blind spots. When my daughter got her permit. I was really worried with here driving the Explorer. so much I limited her use of it. Got her own car sooner than latter. Explorer it is the worst for visibility. Ride and Feel Explorer The Explorer had a nicer feel going down the road, smoother, quieter, more solid/stability.( it weighs 2 ton!) Was confident in the snow and icy roads. Off road in the dirt and mud, too stiff, poor visibility, Mud was the Achilles heal for the explore at 2 ton and all season tires bad news. In the rain and Forest Service roads the Ford Traction Control is great. Hill descent is a useless feature. Some rave about it, but its dumb. Renegade Feel down the road is ok. More road noise , not as stable at highway speeds. Just as confidant in the snow and icy roads, I think the Traction Control is just as good as the Explorer. Cargo capacity. Do not miss the larger Explorer at all. Tow Capacity, I do miss the towing capability of the Explorer. Prefer towing with the Explorer. I now have to use the pick up for all my towing needs. Ford Sync/ MyFord Touch I miss and prefer the Ford Sync Bluetooth capability. Voice commands work better in the Ford compared to Jeep Uconnect.
JB i am surprised you enjoy the Renegade more that the Forester. The researching and comparing I did . I thought the Forester was better in every way. I personally never test drove a forester though.
Don't get me wrong the forester was a beast. It was just more of a rally car than an actual 4x4 off-road vehicle. That on top of the fact that it was an 04 and I was starting to chase the rabbit down the hole as far as fixing things and trying to figure out where some weird noises were coming from pushed me towards getting a newer vehicle. I originally went to the dealership wanting a Jeep Wrangler but the price and the fact that there were no incentives or rebates had me consider a different route of jeep. Like I said don't get me wrong I loved my forester I just like my renegade more haha.
' hope you will not regret getting rid of your Wrangler. I still kept mine for trails and light off road'g... every time I get into my TJ topless and doorless on warmer weekends, its always a blast. I went for some trail ride with my new renegade, it's not the same feeling... in fact it feels weird. That's probably just me.
i didn't trade anything to get my renegade. Just an afternoon of my time at the dealership. I needed a reliable daily (baby hauler) and my Pajero wasn't really proving to be the most reliable (27 years old, and JDM, makes getting replacement parts difficult). So i went shopping online. couldn't find another vehicle as cheap as i found the renegade (dealer was having a hard time selling manual transmission FWDs in the middle of winter i guess), so it was kind of a no brainer. not sure how long i can live with driving a "car" but we shall see, maybe this torque steering mofo will grow on me?
Eddie I was surprise you don't have CJ or TJ kept in your stash. your JKs looks sick though (i'm drooling) I wish I don't live in subdivision because I like to work on my own rigs. But like Brown said, "limited funds" I still kept my TJs though.. one for me and the other for my wife
14' Ram 1500 to the Renegade. Had our first child and needed something a little more car seat friendly and sold a business so we were ready to downsize vehicles. Works for us. To be totally honest, I don't miss the Ram. Somewhat off topic but, my wife traded at the same time. She moved from a 14 Santa Fe Limited to 14 CLA 250. That car has far exceeded our expectations.
Have (currently trying to sell) a 98 Blazer ZR-2 that has more work needed on it than I want to pay for. Still runs fine, but I wanted something more commute-friendly while still retaining utility.
I didn't trade anything for mine but I handed down a 15 mini 4door. It's a great car and my gf loves driving it, just we needed a 2nd car and we don't have a Fiat dealer for her 500 Abarth so I got my Jeep. I love it, but it's definitely not quick(not supposed to be I know) can't wait to move somewhere to play with it more Other cars I had were a 91 Silverado Stepside(3rd gear died), a 96 Subaru legacy(dead engine) and a 05 mini. I(my parents) still have two of them but the mini had a auto transmission, that stalled at lights. Shame too cause I've still not found anything like her 4 sec 0-60(and I used to work at BMW driving M4s)
Before my Renegade I had Ol' Delilah, a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. I loved that thing but I wanted something newer and something with 4 doors. The 2 door life was getting old. I originally looked at some Xterras and 4Runners but I decided to stick with the Jeep family and I couldn't be happier[emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
