Bad clutch 14k miles 2015 jeep renegade sport 1.4l

    So 2 nights ago I was on cruise control on the freeway doing about 65mph. My RPMs all the sudden start red lining and the jeep will not go into gear and accelerate at all. Wont stall out sitting still even if you throw it in 5th gear so I'm assuming its the clutch. I have never been off road and I drive the thing like a grandma because its slow anyways so no need to hurt mpg right? Every time since I took the vehicle into the dealership I complained about the clutch because it always stalled out easy and felt so stiff, anyone else feel this with the 1.4 manual? Ive been driving stick all my life and ive never had trouble driving and dropping a clutch out like that though. Does anyone have any idea if I could have got a defective fiat chrysler peice of junk?! Btw I got it from performance cheysler jeep and they cover it for 12miles and im battling with them now to see if they will fix it since i wasnt even shifting gears or anything.

    Sorry to hear about the concerns you’re having with your vehicle! I did find a TSB that may relate to the issue you are having:

    GROUP: Vehicle Performance

    DATE: February 18, 2016


    SUBJECT: Flash: 1.4L Diagnostic And System Improvements


    SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Some customers may experience one or more of the following conditions:

    • Cruise control will not set at 32 kph (20 mph).

    • Engine cranking times out after 5 seconds.

    • Cruise control will not engage at highway speeds and when in 6th gear.”


    I would recommend taking your vehicle into a dealership to be diagnosed and to see if this TSB applies to you. If this doesn’t solve your concerns please reach back out and I’d be happy to look into this further for you!
