Does anyone know if 235/65/17 tires will fit on a stock trailhawk, without the need to do the pinch seam mod? No lift or spacers.
considering how tight this would be pushing clearances, I would specify exactly what tires you are considering. I've been waiting to hear whether Kumho Road Venture AT51 in that size would work.
I have that size on my TH THE B F Goodrich BUT I do have 2" spacers Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app View attachment 4184
Which BFG specifically, could you please post some pictures? With the spacers, do you have any rubbing? Did you need to do the pinch seam mod?
The BFG KO2 is not made in that size. In the 17" all that's available is 225/65/17 and 245/65/17. And bigger.
I am unable to post pics on this forum, but I have test fit a Cooper RTX on my TH stock, and it will rub the struts coil base. Literally a piece of paper would hardly fit. And their sidewalls are small in camparison to the Yokohamas
Well the tire wall reads 235/65/17 I would take a photo but it 9:00 pm and I'm naked and in bed with a beautiful woman, and I not into showing at this moment! but I will tomorrow. You should say what you really know! Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
So I'm going to conclude that 225/65/17 are the biggest you can fit without rubbing or further modifications (pinch seam mod and/or spacers), unless someone proves us wrong.
Better said that you are in bed with a naked woman. Better mental image for me! Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
I thought I saw someone saying 235/65/17 fit (no rubbing) on a stock TH(no lift, no spacers)... Can anyone confirm this?
I had 235/65R17 on my trailhawk. They will rub on the inside fender unless you do the pinch seam mod and cut back the seam then reheat the lining and flatten it. Also keep in mind that the tire will come pretty darn close to touching the struts. However with or without the lift it will not make a difference. Because the lift is a "spacer over coil" design. Most people do the wheel spacers to clear the strut and get that more aggressive stance. I had Falken A/T tires where the trim may not have been as wide as some other A/Ts. So keep that in mind. Best thing to do is bring your Renny to a shop and have them fit a tire on that your interested in and turn your wheels each way. They will do this free of charge and you will know for sure if you want to go that route or not. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
