I have a 2015 latitude with the manual mysky. My girlfriend and I are looking into getting bikes, and that also means I need a way to get the bikes places. I don't have a trailer hitch.

I was doing some research, but there are so many different types of racks on the market I have no idea what would be good. What do you guys have as far as suggestions or advice?

    Thanks, Jack

First, decide what type of biking you want to do, road or mountain. From there, you can narrow down the type of bike carriers that will suit your needs. I am using Yakima towers with round bars, and I have two short tray mounts (now updated to "boa") mounts for road biking, and I have a Yakima king cobra for the mountain bike. I have the manual mysky as well.

You could always get a Renegade Ready Hitch and hitch bike mount.

I ran across that a few minutes ago. The in-bumper one looks very nice. I feel like it could be a nice little project too.

I feel like there are pros and cons to roof racks vs. a hitch mount.

For me, having a hitch mount is so much more stable - I don't worry about the bikes at all once they are strapped in. It gives you a lot of flexibility in what types of racks to get. I also think that wind noise and drag will be much better with a hitch-mounted, so mileage should be better as well.

Plus there's no horrible consequences if you go through an atm or drivethru.

I look at it like this - if I biff it down the mtn and have to drive myself to the ER would I rather lift my bike on top or on the back!

Very good point. At that point you also risk hurting yourself more and/or dropping the bike on the roof.

Only issue with adding a hitch is voiding your warranty. Would talk to the dealer first. I've been back and forth with how to carry bikes as well.

What I heard from my dealer is that it's basically the same as if I had them put on a factory hitch after-the-fact. I'll probably get in touch with jeep. I would feel more comfortable getting the info straight from the source, preferably with written proof.

I would be hard pressed to believe a hitch would void the warranty...
