I'm having a doozy of a time finding a renegade that I'm looking for. I'm trying to find a manual, 4x4 with mysky. So my question is... Is the manual tranny worth the wait? The dealer told me it would take 4-6 months if they had to order it from Italy. The mysky is the only option that I couldn't do without. The manual and 4x4 are "optional", in that order. Rare off roading, but I'd like the option to do so. The stick is to forgo the auto tranny "issues". Thanks for the input boys and girls. Very appreciated.
For me, the "must haves" were 4WD and a manual transmission--and this is what led me to the Renegade in the first place. ("MySky" is not an option I wanted.) I agree, it was hard to find one even for a test drive--I eventually did, at a dealership 4 hours from home, and yes, it was worth it. I've driven both the autobox and manual shift Renegades, and while the autobox does fine, I simply refuse to buy any vehicle with an automatic. Personal choice, but it really limits me when shopping for a vehicle. I'm really happy with the way my 6M Renegade drives--it is "peppy," and when the boost comes on you feel it. Not a powerhouse by any means, but hey, I also want some fuel savings. Anyway, I had 4 different dealers searching for a 4WD Renegade with 6M and the options package I wanted ("North" edition with cold weather package) and they all seemed to find the exact same vehicles--not many in western Canada, I guess. I purchased from the one most interested in earning my business (read, "offered the best price"). Took a few weeks, but it was worth it in the end. I probably could have waited 6 months, as I still have my previous vehicle, but I know that's not an option for some. What I don't understand is that manual transmission models are SO HARD to find here in North America--not just the Renegade, but all vehicles. At least Jeep still offers a manual--many manufacturers seem to have given up on that market, at least in NA, and while I understand theit logic (I read somewhere that only 6% of new vehicle sales here are MT), it annoys me, and makes me ask, "Why?" I know I'm not the only person who prefers driving "stick"--my wife does, too, and many of my friends--but it seems that many people simply give up and buy an autobox because that's all there is on the market. The low uptake is a self-fulfilling prophesy: fewer manuals available, fewer are sold, around and around it goes. So, for the betterment of drivers everywhere who want to keep manual transmission vehicles from disappearing altogether, I'd say yeah, it's worth the wait to get the MT. Be a 6%er!
I love the 6 speed. The 4wd and manual were a must-have for me, so I looked at the only one in the area with both that I could find. It has mysky, which wasn't a priority, but it is very nice to have in my opinion. As a plus, the turbo makes it very fun to drive, especially with the blowoff valve that I put on. The only downside I had at first was that for some reason, shifting from 2nd to 3rd took some getting used to. (Can't find em, grind em). But now, everything is smooth sailing. As spitfire said, keep the MT alive! Best of luck searching.
The dealership said they found ONE, 1, in a 500 mile radius. So basically, 1 in the state of Texas. 1?!?!?! Are you serious? And no mysky, but has 4x4. So that's just crazy. And it's a $28,000 latitude. All the bells and whistles. I don't need all the nav system, beats, back up camera, auto wipers, blind side blah blah blah. Looks like I'm gonna have to give in and be the 94%. Hopefully they'll fix the auto... Hopefully, but not holding my breath.
just got to be patient. I found mine after a month. ( Lat, 6spd, 4x4, mysky) But 4x4 in Texas has got to be hard to find.
It really is. I was really surprised about how few there were. I might have to wait till the 2017s come out. Maybe a diesel. Ooooo!

Thanks caine. It's not 4x4. My priorities have switched to my sky, 4x4, manual. Since manual is so rare.

it surprises me how many people want manual. my last 2 have been manual and i was so sick of it. love having auto again.
For me... It's the auto tranny "problems". Plus, the stick is TURBO! Who doesn't like turbo??? Haha. What's your gripe with sticks?
just don't like it in town, stop, start. i get its fun when you want but sometimes i just want to drink a coffee and not have to shift.
I know how you feel. We drove 150 miles away, just to find a Trailhawk. They hardly have them locally.
For our TH we drove 250 km to get the one we wanted with MySky and a color other than yellow. (Not that there's anything wrong with yellow...)
my dealer traded twice for me (first options weren't correct when it got here) both 600km away. they drove one over and drove mine back. now they didnt give me anything else, not even an oil change, but got jeep I wanted.
