After installing a brand new 1.5" Daystar lift and 225/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires on our 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, Cindy and I decided to head down to one of our favorite trails in Southern California and put it all to the test. In this short video clip, you'll get to see a small sampling from our test and it's of our Renegade climbing its way up and out of Last Chance Canyon on a steep hill climb that we refer to as, "Graduation Hill". We hope you enjoy.
Thanks! Glad you liked it Only with a LOT of help from you and Steph! Thank you so much for joining us out there
Yes. We disconnected for this trail and when you see the final video, I think you'll be able to see how it helped on the rock obstacles.
Wow that was pretty spectacular! Layin the haters to rest ...maybe some of the wranglers will see this and stop following me around on the trails
Wow. I would never have attempted that climb in my Renegade, and I think my wife would need to be sedated first if I did. I'm really impressed with what you and Cindy have done with that machine. Just to be clear, so far have all your mods have been limited to your wheels/tires and suspension? Have you done anything under the hood to squeeze more HP or torque out of our stock power plant 4 cylinder? I didn't play your video with volume, so I couldn't hear your RPMs. How hard did you have to push it?
LOL!! I don't think there's any way possible to lay the haters to rest. They seem to be an intense crowd who feel their manhood being threatened by the Renegade. What I can tell you is that this hill climb is one that can stop a built up Wrangler in its tracks. We see it happen all the time and to be honest, I wasn't sure we would be able to make it up.
LOL!! It's a hairy little climb for sure. Fortunately, it's one that we've done plenty of times in our other Jeeps and we know it well. Regarding mods, no, we have not done anything under the hood. Doing a climb like this doesn't necessarily require high RPM's or more HP. In fact, I did it using the Trailhawk low range and just crawled it really.
Yes, but you'd probably smash in your front bumper on the small ledge about half way up. Of course, getting to this point requires you to cross a few rock gardens. Nothing big mind you but even with the lift and tires we have, we still damaged our front bumper and rocker trim.
