For those of you who like to use your Jeep Renegade to do some camping or go on extended trips across the desert, having a fridge with you can make all the difference between carrying an ample supply of fresh food and a soggy mess of Ziploc sandwich bags floating around in ice water. Of course, to run something like an ARB Fridge Freezer, you need to have an outlet that provides a constant 12v power supply and, while the Jeep Renegade does have a rear cargo outlet that is supposed to provide just that, you the owner will need to install a 20 amp fuse to make it work. If you don't install this fuse, the outlet will only work with the key turned to the ON position. This short write-up will help show you just how easy it is to setup this outlet on your Renegade to provide power regardless if your key is on or not. What you will need • 20 Amp Yellow Fuse • Long Flathead Screwdriver What you will need 1. Open the hood of your Renegade and locate the fuse box. This will be the black box just behind the window washer reservoir. 2. Using a long flathead screwdriver, turn the screw at the base of the fuse box 90° counter clockwise to unlock the panel. 3. Grab a hold of the fuse box panel from the lifting tabs and pull it straight up and off the box. 4. If you look at the fuse sheet that comes with your owners manual, you will see that Cavity F30 needs to have a yellow 20 amp fuse installed in order for the 12v rear cargo outlet to have constant battery power. The fuse box panel has a diagram to help you locate this empty bank. This shot will help you to see where the yellow 20 amp fuse needs to be installed. And, this is what the fuse you need should look like. 5. Insert the yellow 20 amp fuse and push it all the way in until it's seated firmly in the fuse box. (ADDENDUM: It is my understanding that you can just remove the 20 amp mini fuse from bank F18 and install it into F30 and have the same results.) What your fuse box should look like with the yellow 20 amp fuse installed. 6. Reinstall the fuse box panel by sliding it back into place. 7. Using a long flathead screwdriver, lightly push down and turn the screw at the base of the fuse box 90° clockwise to lock the panel in place. You can now carry and run something that requires constant 12v power from the battery using the rear cargo outlet on your Renegade. For us, this would be an ARB Fridge Freezer and we carry it on the folded down passenger side rear seat. I hope you found this write-up helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Can you make the front one in the console do the same thing by adding a fuse? I've a fast charger for my phone but it will only charge if the car is on.
While I appreciate the write up, wouldn't leaving an electric cooler running over night, while camping, result in a near dead battery the next morning?
My trailhawk has a plug built in. In the stock there any safety built in to prohibit itself from going dead? Anyone have a link to this sweet fridge?
Here's a link to the ARB Fridge Freezer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...d-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop I actually have 2 of them, one a standard 50qt size and the other a smaller 37qt size. The one I am using in my Renegade is the smaller 37qt. These are the single best thing I've gotten for my Jeeps and I use them all the time. Again, they are programmable so that it won't tap out your battery and over the last 7 years of owning one, they never have.
I love my ARB and will eventually be doing this. Maybe even eventually replace the battery with a deep cycle.

I'm looking for a continuous 12v power source for some LED underglow light strips. If i leave the F18 fuse exactly where it is and add a 20 amp fuse with wires attached (we've got it cover i just don't know the technical description) to the F30 spot. Would my cargo Port stay stock and my led lights have continuous power?
