Okay, finally got a chance to give a brand new 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk an up close and personal look at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada and man, I want one even more now than ever before! This first of two Renegades that I got to see was called Frostbite as it had a white and electric blue theme and, while the color scheme may not have been for everyone, I was impressed to see that it at least had skid plates, 225/60R17 tires, a small 1" lift over stock and real rocker guards. Check it out... Looks like the Renegade may still have a standard 7" round light so it can easily run a Truck-Lite LED headlight. Front tow points come standard on Trailhawks.
Real rocker guards that wrap under the pinch seam and about 6" beyond. While there is some room to work with between the tire and rear bumper... There isn't as much room available between the tire and the rear door and, there isn't much room for trimming. Some adjusting/moving things around may be required. Some shots looking underneath the Renegade
Oh god, the colors were tough to look at for sure. I just wanted to see it for being a trailhawk and could see real potential in it.
i actually dont mind the color scheme. the only part of it i dont like where the wheels. other that its not bad. maybe since the rear wheels need to be moved back and ince maybe rock krawler arms being 1" longer will work perfectly lol
Hi Wayoflife, Great shots, thanks so much for posting. I found your website while searching for more information on the SEMA show Renegades. Did you have a chance to take any shots of the display cases so we can get an idea of what accessories Mopar is going to offer? Did you have a chance to look closely at the suspension, does there appear to be any hope of a lift kit and larger tires?
Thanks and welcome to ToasterJeep! I do have more pics from the display case and even a few of graphic packages that jeep will be offering. I will try and post them up soon. Regarding suspension, there's definitely hope to give it a bit of a lift but running bigger tires will be a challenge. As it is now, the position of the tires sit closer to the doors than the bumpers and there's only about 2" of space there. Unfortunately, there is not too much hope of doing any trimming here. Toward the bumpers, there's more like 3" or so and with the addition of a small lift, I could see one running up to 30" tires. If adjustment to the arms can be made to center the axle a bit better, you might be able to run 31's. The bigger issues will be dealing with things like speedo calibration and re-gearing. I have talked to Superchips yesterday and they said they may come out with something to help out with the speedo.
Thanks for the info, I want the 9 speed automatic and I wonder what will happen to the shift point programming in a software controlled transmission if we have to go to some speedo correction mod? Maybe we should just settle for a little lift and original size tires?
For sure the shift point will get screwed up without a speedo calibration. That's why I'm pushing Superchips to come out with a Flashcal to address it. As far as tire size goes, I'd be okay with keeping well enough alone but, I really want to run a nicer AT than what you can find in a 225/60R17 and they seem to only be available in tires that are about 30"
BTW, here are a few more pics that show how the front seat can be folded down to give you more room to carry longer stuff.
That looks pretty sweet I love the design of the inside hopefully there will be more normal colors for the interior. Cant wait to see one in person!
Oh yeah, these are SEMA Jeeps and I'm sure the ones you can buy from your dealership will be quite normal looking.
I wonder if they will get any reuse out of the SEMA Renegades by taking them to the upcoming LA Auto Show or others, have they done that in past years with other SEMA Jeeps?
Talking to the Jeep engineer I know at the show, they had to scramble to make these two Renegades possible. I believe there were as many as 5 Renegades used to make these 2
Well I'm going to the LA Auto Show so I'll let you know if there are there. I'm hoping they have the stock Renegades there and maybe the pricing.
I could do without the electric blue, but I'm glad to hear about the small lift and skids. Did the black part of the fenders and body look like it is removable/trimable or is it there to stay?
The plastic fender trim wraps around the body. You could pull them and do some trimming but by the read door, there's no room for trimming or, very little room. Still, I think there are some options that can explored.
That is great to know that Trucklites will most likely fit. It will definitely be a fun little adventure rig.
