Hey all, sorry if I'm doing this wrong...totally new to Jeep, Jeep forums, Toaster Jeeps, etc. Had a couple of quick questions (I have 0% technical skills, so keep that in mind). How often are you rotating tires for the 4x4? (I have the trailhawk) ... I can't do that on my own in my current living space, do you think the dealership is sufficient or should I hit up a tire shop? Also, has anyone had any luck getting extra stuff from Mopar? Or where do you guys get stuff like floor mats and other accessories, parts, etc?
Welcome to ToasterJeep! Either place would be sufficient. I'd pick who ever is less expensive. Not sure how much stuff mopar has released but deff shop around before buying from the dealership.
Alright cool - how often do you guys think (in general, i know it varies based on usage) should i aim to rotate the tires? Since I have the trailhawk i have the all terrain which is also new to me.
I rotate mine when I get my oil changed which is every 5k miles. This is on my Wrangler with mud terrains.
Alright, good to know. The dealer and the book says oil needs to be changed every 10k in this rig, which I probably won't push it that far (I just commute right now, it's been offroading twice) ...but are any of you pushing well beyond 7,500k?
It really depends on the type of tires you run. With something really aggressive like a mud terrain, I try to rotate my tires at least once every 3,000 miles as this helps to ensure they stay on the quite side (typically ends up being more like 4-5k). If you let them go too long, they will get quite loud. That being said, the street like tread on the Renegade tires will go a long time between rotations and still stay quite. In fact, you would want to rotate them more for even wear than noise reduction and I would think you should be fine with a rotation once every 10,000.
Alright, good advice, thank you. Again sorry for being such a newb to this whole world of 4x4/crossover/suvs haha. So what about oil? What are you guys doing?
Just did a write-up for oil changes here: http://toasterjeep.com/index.php?th...ir-tigershark-engine-oil-change-write-up.399/
