Racked up almost 3500 miles on mine in 6 weeks doing a few mini road trips down to the coast and up to Austin. Really love this little Jeep
If you don't mind me asking, what cross bars did you go with for your roof rack? Also, how quite are they when you don't have your bike stuff on it? I really need to get me some as well as a basket and soon.
@wayoflife Funny thing about that actually, I'd originally purchased the Thule Aeroblade Edge bars for a "stock" look. They fit perfectly and looked nice but I paid $199 PER BAR. I'd also had a dealer order some for me at the same time just so I could see which I liked better. The Mopar Accessory cross bars are Thule Aeroblades, and include the 4 mounts and locks for $260 all in. I noticed that although I liked the look of the Edge version, because it sits lower to the roof it and flush with the rails it makes for more wind noise than the regular Aeroblade that sits above the roof rails. I'm no expert in aerodynamics but I would contribute this to wind moving faster through the tighter space. But to answer your question, very minimal noise when I have my bike mount or bike mount and bike on it. Hardly ANY difference cross bars ONLY vs stock with just the factor rails. No whistle at all, and that's with me being very picky about that. My main irk with my previous car/roof rack set up was that it was louder than I would've liked considering it was from a premium brand (Volvo) and although Thule made those bars too, these Mopar ones (which are the exact same as any you'd buy at a sporting goods store) are much MUCH quieter. I'd suggest you shop around at dealers and find ones that don't know what they're actually selling you. Some dealers here in town had a more outdoorsy set of parts/service reps that knew just how much those things are worth and they were marked up. The same exact bars/mounts/locks are sold separately at REI for $179 for both bars, $199 for the mounts, and I believe another $50 or so for the locks. Really pays off to do your research and shop around. I'm very happy with the Mopar kit and I've actually grown to like the looks more than the Aeroblade Edge. Hope this helps lol.
Awesome! I am in ATX too and just took a cruise to Jester King on Sunday. About to head to Bastrop SP in a couple of weeks for the Green Goblin's first camping trip. But I was going to ask, is this beach pic at Padre Island? Im trying to plan a trip there to camp on the beach..
Yeah I'd only had it for a little over a week when we took a trip down to the coast @ Padre Island. Planning a camping trip to Lost Maples SP soon! I haven't been to Bastrop yet but I also want to hit that place up!
Dude I know! You're Trailhawk is my inspiration! Wanted a TH but availability was limited when I needed to replace my previous vehicle and my concern was Sierra Blue
