There's a 2010 wrangler with 36,000 miles. Asking $20,000. It's 2 door 4x4 and a soft top. The price seems to be reasonable. 36k seems like really low miles. Who wouldn't want a wrangler? It's about 3k less then the package I'd get with the renegade but it's used. I know it seems like I'm looking fo a reason NOT to get a renegade. BUT this will be my DD and everything vehicle until the wheels fall off. Then I'll put new wheels and drivenit till those fall off. I want to be sure it's the vehicle I love. Thanks boys and girls for your input.

Daily driver. Very little off-road. Renegade is the adult thing to do huh? Adulting sucks sometimes.

Cant get why you are talking yourself out of the Renegade. You say yourself very little offroading, so the Wrangler makes less and less sense.

Edit to add: I can tell you just want the Wrangler because its "cooler" and theres nothing wrong with that. Get it if that's what you want, but it will definitely not be as comfortable as a daily driver, especially if you mod it at all. Not to mention the gas mileage, yada yada yada

If it has a 3.8 liter v6 they have some oil consumption problems. So do a little research. They also only get about 14-16mpg. Great for modding up. I have owned both. My wife loves her renegade. Good luck with your decision. Jeep-on

Yes to everything. The cool factor, the nostalgia, the off-road capabilities, the full removable top, the poor gas mileage, underpowered. All of it. Plus, it's right in front of me. I dont have to wait or order it. I want a pretty specific thing and it's not on every lot.

I know your pain... We bought a Renny TH after having 2 JKUs. (07 and 12)

Love the gas mileage and the creature comforts of the Renny. It's a much more civilized Jeep. But nothing beats the open air experience.

Recently we needed a second vehicle, so I ended up getting a 2014 JK sport as a commuter vehicle for me. And we are loving having a JK again too.

    Couple things to think about:

    1. 2010 had the beast of a 3.8L motor. Gas mileage sucked. Power sucked. But top down is still awesome, and the cool factor is way up there.

    2. Renegade still is unique and cool - I have lots of ppl who have still never seen one before and who love the looks and versatility of it. And you can't bash the mileage for a little 4x4.

    3. 2012 Wrangler upgraded to the 3.6L engine. This one got a lot better mileage, and had 83 more HP (202 to 285) in it. My first tank of mixed driving (30% city, 70% hwy) I got 22mpg in the 2014.

    4. Wranglers hold their value. That 2010 you are looking at will not be much cheaper than a 2012, and its usually only a couple thousand more than that for a 2014. In Canada, I got my 2014 Sport, 32,000 km, soft top and air, with upsized brand new KO2 tires on Rubicon rims, for only $23,000. The 2010's I was looking at here were only $3-4K cheaper. And I would have lost a lot of mileage. I also got a couple years warranty left as well.

The Wrangler will always be a love-hate relationship. I've always loved it more than I've hated it. To me, the quirks are things that make me love it more.

Fortunately I'm in a financial position right now where I can afford the extra gas it takes to run the Wrangler. Renegade will be much better from a mileage standpoint, and is way better for trips from a storage and cost point.

To sum it up... Either way you go, you will have lots of fun and own a great Jeep Product. If you go Jk, seriously look at trying to find a 2012-2014 for the mileage and engine difference. Or at least drive the two back to back - you will notice the difference in driving... And in interior finish... Before making a decision.

Let us know what you end up getting :)

I think the trailhawk series exposes alot of wrangler posers who buy the jeep for the wrong reasons.

T hawk for me meant 4 wheel low. Skid plates ,and a hitch was my priority without paying the install or having to deal with it, I've been 4 wranglers and probly some more to come, I went to purchase a 75th but sacrifed the sunroofs for the same price in the t hawk with equipment i needed. To each his own.

You should get what you want, but remember it just may be worth the wait...just because the JK is there in front of you it still might not be the right thing for you. For me the T-hawk's DD comfort and off-road capability in downsizing from my Xterra was the right choice, I haven't regretted it for a second!!

I guess the best input I can give is that I just traded in my Wrangler for a '16 Trailhawk. I'm getting older and don't do any off-roading that a TH couldn't handle. I've had 2 Wranglers spanning 10 years. Tired of getting beaten to death driving around town and feeling like I'm going to be blown off of the road at highway speeds. I still love Wranglers, and likely will own one again someday, but I just needed a break. Good luck in your decision.

I second all of this, my heart loved my wrangler but the ole vertically challenged body said climbing into the JK was too much, traded JK for 2016 TH. Back and knees much better for it. Do want you want,& can live with. Love my TH more each day altho I do miss the "cool factor" the wrangler brings the TH has a smoother cool all its own.

I own a JK for a very short period of time. Because of the reliability issues. 2009 is better by recorded electrical issues, not to mention the 3.8 anemic engine torque. I own two TJs and so I am comparing them all the time. JK is too big to go for rock crawling, the TJ is more nimble and can go in tight spot that the JK will struggle. If you can get a newer year that has the newer Pentastar the better. But if you don't do off road, The Renegade BU 1.4T manual is best suited for DD. However, if you like to work on engines, TJ is best, if you love to modify your rig into your personal liking, go for the wrangler because there are tons of aftermarket available. 2010 had more problems than '07 & '08 >>>That is my personal opinion based from personal experience..
