Howdy from Idaho, former XJ owner x2, looking at possibly buying a Renegade around the end of the year to replace my wife's daily driver... Working in both the emergency vehicle upfitting industry for over a decade and more recently as a utility worker, I've kept my eye on the latest crazes over at the eLightbars.org forum. The replacement LED capsules (I guess it's not correct to refer to the diodes as a "bulb") from Lifetime seem to be "amazing" as a direct replacement for the factory halogen bulb. The Renegade appears to use an H13 for the headlight and a H11 for the fog light. Has anyone tried upgrading these lights yet from the stock halogen bulbs? The only issue I can see which, if you read through the 6 pages of posts, has been clearance behind the bulb from where the heat sink/fan assembly stick out. Also has anyone upgraded to the DRLs? Disclaimer: I don't sell these nor have I installed them on any of the work vehicles I use The forum post: http://elightbars.org/forums/topic/53258-lifetime-led-lights-headlight-replacement-bulbs/?st=0 Manufacturer website: https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/products/category/headlights There appears to be quite a few videos on Youtube. My interest is for upgrading volunteer firefighter vehicles for a brighter headlight and the better "snap" or "pop" on the high beam flasher module we install - by far the brighter and most effective *daytime* warning light on the entire vehicle. Awesome forum guys, really looking forward to getting more familiar with the Rene; hopefully it'll be the perfect rig for us Other cars we've looked at to replace my wife's Mazda3: Jeep Cherokee/Patriot/Compass (aghh) Kia Soul/Rio Ford Focus/Fusion Chrysler 200S (still high on the list) Dodge Dart Almost Friday! -AJ
I'm pretty sure the headlights are just standard 7" rounds and I'm planning to install a set of Truck-Lite LED's in place of the factory lights. Can't see any reason why it won't but I'll let you know.
I would have to look behind the headlight assembly to confirm but they do not appear to be standard drop in sealed beam 7" rounds but rather a composite reflector and bulb module. FCA of course would have to be difficult LOL. If it does take a standard 7", that would make it all the much easier to replace
