Car and Driver is reporting it comes with Rock Rails!!! Hopefully it'll be a fair priced, retrofit oem part.

Besides the appearance package and interior I think the rock rails are the main difference.

The 2017 Jeep Renegade Deserthawk, meanwhile, appears to be little more than a U.S.-spec version of the Renegade Desert Hawk the brand revealed at the Paris auto show, itself based on a concept Jeep trotted out at its Easter Safari event in 2015. Despite its name being condensed to one word, the Deserthawk wears the same Moab map on its hood, U.S. Army–style star decals on its D-pillars, and black-painted, 17-inch wheels that can be found on the European Desert Hawk.

Limited to four colors, including the Deserthawk-exclusive Mojave Sand, this Jeep builds on the off-road-themed, $27,640 Renegade Trailhawk. The Deserthawk’s higher price ($29,135) includes black leather seats with contrasting stitching, the Trailer Tow Group (a four-pin wiring harness and Class III hitch), rock rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, a proximity key with push-button start, and more. Unlike the diesel-powered Desert Hawk, the four-wheel-drive Deserthawk relies on the Trailhawk’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder and nine-speed automatic.

I looked it over on the jeep website. Seems to me like the 2017DH is equal to a 2016 fully loaded TH.

Waiting to see what the rails are like. Hopefully they're not terribly overpriced as a retrofit kit
