I began my first foray into Jeeping with a new-to-me 2017 Trailhawk a few weeks ago. The tech in this vehicle is astounding to me--intermittent wipers that activate based on water detected on the windshield, are you kidding me? On the other hand this makes me question whether something is borked with the windshield wiper fluid pump/electronics or if there is a reason why I'm seeing this behavior:

There are times when I hit the wiper fluid switch but no fluid is actually sprayed. The wipers engage but they're just smearing road salt around the windshield. Most of the time, however, it works just fine.

So, did I buy a vehicle with a borked pump or is there some thinking-for-me tech thing going on behind the scenes that I'm just not aware of?

(and, yes, it has fluid in the resevoir)

I have a '17 TH, too. I've never noticed any hesitation up front, but it often takes my rear a second or two to get going. Maybe it's a pressure build up thing? Has it been very cold when you experienced this?

I wouldn't say 'very' cold, just right around 32F, which was giving me pause--like maybe it wasn't spraying so I wouldn't be accidentally frosting over the windshield and be unable to see. I'll do a more thorough investigation re connections/possible leaks and baring anything obvious set up an appointment so the dealer can fix it under their warranty. Thanks for the sanity check.
