My wife bought me a new Trail hawk two weeks ago. I have not been able to drive it much as I am having vertigo problems again. The transmission has a duel gate and I am wondering how this works when you choose to pull it to the left and shift it. Does this make it a manual shift like a ratchet shifter and does shifting to the -negative positions give you a lower ratio [high numerical] for more torque? I was wondering as I will eventually be driving it a lot on the beach in soft sand and probably will be using 4 wheel low/4wheel lock.
Living at the beach is a wonderful thing as I can at least drive the beach even when dizzy L.O.L. !
I gave my old fully restored XJ 4x4 to my son last week so I hope this "toaster" will do the job on the beach!
    Thanks, Dave

Yes, pulling the shifter back toward you will get you to higher gears and vice versa.
