    Hi All,

So I was looking at the door jam label of my Jeep and it says the tire pressure should be 35psi. However, all of the Renegades I test drove and even the one I bought the monitor says the pressure is between like 43 and 46psi. Because they have all been that high leads me to believe it's obviously intentional. So what is your tire pressure and did it come that way?

They over inflate them for shipping so you don't get flat spots. It's a long way from Italy. Mine came at 45 psi.

I have always gone by what the recommendations on the tire says.

Max on the tire is specific to tire. Always go with what the VEHICLE is designed to take. If traveling, loaded down with max cargo/passengers, you can move the psi up closer to the tire max. But ride quality will suffer. Especially with those shit Goodyears

My sticker says 35psi for the 225/55-18 and the tires say max 51psi. TPMS says 49 agreeing driving around town. I may let some air out!

I dropped mine down to 35 as per the label in the door. They were at 43psi. The change definitely made a difference in the ride quality. It's softer and quieter.

Is there any noticeable difference in mpg?

    Too soon to tell.

I had been getting a little over 21mpg.

To use correct tire pressure for THE VEHICLE, you will get optimum MPG. Over or under inflating a tire will cause improper vehicle handling, and increased wear on tires and other driveline components.

I know this is an older thread, but when I got my 75th anniversary toaster the tires were around 50#. The dealer confirmed that Chrysler has them over fill the tires because they sit on the lot. I dropped it down to the 35# recommend on the sticker....I do believe the gas mileage has suffered.

I had service done recently and since then the Renegade felt different. I checked the tire pressure and they had dropped the pressure down to 30 psi on each tire for some reason. I put it back up to 35 and the old Renegade is back. I am going to call Monday to check why they did that.

I haven't actually checked the tire pressures on mine, other than the onboard TPMS which says they're all around 32 psi. Perhaps I should bump them up a bit.

On a related note, though, when I was shopping I had xeveral dealers searching for me. One of them wanted to charge me for all kinds of stuff, including nitrogen-filled tires ("Hey, it''s already done..."). Now, I understand that some options you have to pay for, even if you don't want them--my backup camera, for example--but do they really think I'm gonna pay for them to fill the tires with nitrogen? (Or more likely, just say they've done so...this is one of those things that's impossible to prove, one way on the other).

I understand the advantages of nitrogen in tires; if this was a racecar, sure, but hey, 78% is good enough for me on my motorbike, it's certainly good enough for the Jeep!

You can fill your tires with nitrogen for free at any Costco tire center.

Thankfully, the closest Costco is 4 hours away!
