I'd like install skid plates under my Sport 1.4 T to do some real off-roading. In shopping for the center skid plate, it appears that both ATP and Valkyrie make heavier replacement drive shaft/carrier bearing skid plates to replace the thin Trailhawk plate. Since the Trailhawk already has the mounting bolts it just a matter of removing 4 nuts and replacing the skid plate. Has anyone installed a drive shaft skid plate on a Non-Trailhawk? I'm not clear on where the mounting bolts are placed. Is drilling required? It appears that the ATP Rear Diff skid plate will bolt right on to Non-Trailhawks. Thanks!
The after market drive shaft/carrier bearing skid plates are bolt-on, no drilling required. Mounting hardware is supplied. If you look under your Renegade where the drive shaft pieces come together you will see the 4 bolts that would be used to mount the plate. It is a quick installation, about 10 minutes.
Great. Thanks for the info! I'll order these today. Next up, researching the front engine skid plate.....
I purchased the Valkyrie front motor/trans skid plate. Should arrive tomorrow. I'm installing it on Wednesday next week. I'll let you know how it goes.
