So, I think it's no surprise that the all new 2015 Jeep Renegade will never be a badass rock crawler (although it would be awesome to see), I was kind of thinking that it might actually be a great platform to transform it into a nice rally racer. To that end, what all do you think would be necessary to get it going in the right direction? Let's hear what you have to say :)

I was thinking the same thing. First, it's got to have some power to spare which probably won't be a reality. I don't think rally racers need much up travel, but you have to be able to get some serious droop to allow the wheels to get back to the ground as soon as possible. Honestly, I would love to see a built Renegade giving a WRX a run for it's money. Turbo, big droop, seating for four...sign me up for some Nevada desert fun!

WRX's have some serious HP but it would be cool to build a Renegade to give it a run for it's money. Be awesome to tear through the Nevada Desert for sure.

there has to be a decent amount of weight to drop somewhere to make it a little lighter on its feel. so maybe a turbo, stiff springs (or coilovers) and your good to go. its not always about top speed with rally cars so if you can make it handle better and lighter it will help a lot

This is true. Hard to imagine that wanting stiffer springs and/or "lowering" a Jeep might be what you'd want for something like this - heresy I tell ya!! :D

Where there is a will there is a way. It's just going to take someone with some time and money to rip it apart and put it back together in a better way.

I think just having one out there would be cool. It not how fast you can go but can you finish. Sure speed is good but if you fly off the road and cannot complete the race then what good is speed.

Did a little research on the 2.4L that will be the engine of choice for the toaster. There have been factory turbo versions of this little bomba available in Mexico packing 300+ hp. The rub was turbo lag and mini torque on the bottom but "explosive power on top almost requiring traction control". Got my attention. Not good for crawling but "Howee S@$t" on fireroads and long hill climbs in the Rockies or Sierras. A for reals rally racer is possible.:)

These motors are perfect candidates for turbo swaps. Only issues will be how much power the internals can withstand.
