My name is Jim and I've been lurking for a bit. I used to have a wrangler, and I'm thinking of buying a Fiat Renegade and am wondering if it will be reliable. I'd like to hear from all of you with some higher mileage. I would buy a leftover 2015 with a manual transmission, so I don't care about the auto trans problems. Please weigh in!

Being that this is brand new model and it's only really been out for about a year, it's hard to say for sure. I have about 9,000 miles on mine and so far, I haven't had to take it into the dealership to have any work done. So, in terms of reliability, it seems to be getting the job done. That being said, there are small things that kind of bug me like a sun visor that tends to rattle and an occasional shifting issue but then, you're looking to get a manual so you won't have that problem.

I own one with 5,000 miles, and have sold about 10 Renegades. The only issue I have seen is brakes squeak after jeep sits over night. My service advisor put new pads on and problem solved unless extremely cold. There Chrysler is aware of the squeaking breaks so contact your local dealer and have the pads replaced. No charge of course.

Ours has been in the shop for the key fob not locking or unlocking the doors. The interior lock buttons not working. Also the check engine light has come on for some sort of thermostat issue which hasn't been fixed for 3 weeks because the part is on back order. Can't say I'm impressed with the quality.

Speaking of duds...today, the entire capless gas housing broke off and stayed attached to the nozzle at the gas station. Less than 12 re-fuels since owning the car

I experienced a "4wd Serv" error message 2 days ago after I started it. A quick Google of it had people simply turning off their Renegade and then turning it back on and it goes away. I did this and it worked, but I called the dealer about it and I hope to get it looked at soon. Yesterday, my door locks stopped working. I couldn't even manually open the lock on the passenger door from inside. I don't know what's going on because prior to these two things, it's been a great vehicle for me and my wife. I have about 9,500 miles on it so far.

My jeep has had the complete ignition replaced because the key was getting stuck in the ignition.(in shop for 29 days straight )
It has very harsh shifting that has had me drive to the shop and waste over 24 hours of time in under 5 months. (in shop currently)
My jeep stalled out yesterday 2 different times while driving it. I started the jeep sat in my parking spot for 2 minutes the. Shifted to reverse and the jeep jerked and cut off. I processed to put jeep back into park and recranked the vehicle and put it into reverse again and it stalled. The 3rd time i did this the jeep drove "fine" (still very harsh shifting) but had a ETC light on till the next time i cranked it.

Since then it is also giving me a count to 9600 mile service.

I bought this jeep to drive it to the mountains and vacations for reliability. I HAVE DRIVEN MY 94 CHEROKEE ON EVERY TRIP. Since purchase. Thats how reliable it is. Good luck.

I own my toaster for more than a year now. It's a 4wd with 2.0 MJ2 engine. So far the car has 16000 km (10k miles). I had a few issues like TPMS sensors falling inisde the rim (and reading false tire pressure), the top ruber part of the door (weatherstrip and its plastic ornament surrounding the side windows - sorry for not being able to find the appropiate synonims :D) was falling apart not in a bad way even though not in a 4 month old car way (replaced for free at the dealership ) BUT the new ones seem better AND finaly the keyless go faults (couldn't open the car with the remote - worked fine with the key) BUT now after the update works fine. Overall minor problems solved over time by Jeep

I have it at the dealership as I write this. They showed me a few updates my Renegade needs and said it would take a few hours to complete. Hopefully this is all that is needed. Thank you for the info you provided, it's really appreciated. :)

Just a final update, everything is fine with my Renegade. I had 8 different software updates done (as seen in the picture). Hopefully this will be the last issue I have for a while. ImageUploadedByToasterJeep1456239447.216948.jpg

So my renny just started making a weird noise coming from the engine and today the fan started smoking. So now I have to take it to the dealer and get it checked out, it's only been 17300 miles.

I never owned a Turbo for i always want the simplicity of a car, I own 2 TJ also, and now I have the 1.4T Renegade because they do not have the stick in their bigger engine. the electronics and integrated controls are not reliable IMO. That is why they have issues with the auto trans. But Turbo system is another (more) part to brake as well, and so, for Renegade's reliability??? I guess it is too early to say... they just came out in 2015.
