Hi. Has anyone here had this particular unit installed on their Renegade? I have some questions that I'm hoping to get answered! Thanks!

If this stereo is anything like everything else pyle makes, stay far away.

"Pyle of crap" is what I usually read tossed around in their product reviews.

Really? I've wondered because on Amazon there are no reviews at all, so I didn't know how to gauge it. Was hoping to get a review on this forum. Thanks for the heads up!

There's been a few people that have got the Pyle units on the Jeep Renegade Owners Group on Facebook. So far I haven't seen any complaints, but the video I saw of them functioning looks like they run their own software (as opposed to CarPlay or Android Auto) and are pretty laggy.

I don't have a Facebook account which is why I haven't come across that. Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it.

My friend put one in his renegade and said it was a very easy install. Plug and play. No real instructions included. Steering wheel controls work, backup camera works. GPS works good. Way better screen. It looked and sounded good, so much that I went out and got one. Putting it in this weekend.

Well I put it in today, no real problems. Just have to take your time figuring out what needs to be plug in where.

It's going to take a while to go through all the menus and figure everything out. All the stock configuration are still there. All steering wheel functions still seem to work. There is a menu screen for configuring steering wheel buttons, but didn't mess with that. FM pulls in a lot of stations, but AM seems weak.

Weirdest thing so far was on 1st test drive, it told me that I was exceeding the speed limit on a road. You can set that to warn you at % over speed limit. Factory setting is at speed limit.

Here's the Pyle webpage for the unit.

I got mine on WOOT for $250 shipped and I'm more than happy so far. The factory unit was the worst part of the Renegade and I hated it every day.

Thank you so much for the update. I'm glad to hear that all is working as it should be! So steering wheel controls and back up camera work fine? How's the gps? How difficult was it to install!?

The install was fairly easy. The bezel trim around the radio just pops off. I used a plastic trim tool to do it. Then the radio is held in by four torx screws. Out she comes. on the back of the old unit just unplug everything. right now you are about 4 minutes into the procedure. The new radio comes with two wiring harnesses, a usb adapter, an antenna adapter, microphone and gps antenna. Everything is labeled. Just start connecting everything. The old radio had two antennas, for me, I used the white one, it gave better reception. I took out the two center vent module and ran the gps antenna lead out that opening and attached the gps antenna on the dash. The mic went to the lower left of the radio. The new unit then goes in. Screw in the 4 screws, snap on the bezel. Done. It really is that easy. 1st time I would say would take 90 minutes. I could probably it again in less than 30 minutes, now that I know what I'm doing.

Uconnect will be no more. What function that Uconnect offers where you interested in? This unit has a lot to offer.

Got to play with the GPS today. No problems works great. Hardest think so far is which voice in which accent do I want to have talk to me.

Thank you for the clear set of instructions. To be honest now I feel that I can do it. I'm about sold on it. My biggest concerns are 1. the automatic back up camera (when going in reverse), 2. steering wheel controls (those that make phone calls, control radio volume/stations, and control the info center in the dash directly in front of steering wheel) and 3. GPS (that it's reliable and accurate)

Again thank you for letting us know your personal experience with the Pyle radio. Let me know if things continue working well after a a week or so!

Back up camera is great. Bigger is better. I turned off the guide lines before disconnecting the old radio. The new radio has it's own lines and yes they do turn with the steering wheel. I think I still need to look into the option for them to tweak them.

There are so many ways to configure this thing, it is crazy. It just takes a little time to experiment.

As for all the options the old radio unit had for configuring options for the Renegade, this one seems to have them all. Nothing is hidden. The unit is a global thing so I think it shows a lot more. Even the option for brake service is there. I tried some of the ones I had not seen before, and turn them on. It turns them on, but then off because they were for things mine didn't have.

I haven't even tried to watch a movie on it yet!

Not concerned about the functions, sounds like they are all covered except for satellite radio. My concern is I don't have the bigger radio, only the 5.0, I'm wondering if I might need add wiring to get all of the functionality of the Pyle unit, and also if I will need a different bezel to cover the space seeing as the Pyle is bigger than what I currently have?

Let me know if you get this and if it works in the 5.0 setup.
