I was wondering if anyone has used any other oil than the 0w20 Jeep recommends? The reason is I have an endless supply of shell Helix 5w40 ( ironically the oil recommended for 1.4t ). Would it affect the multi air system ? Just wondering if anyone had experience with different oils .

I think one thing to consider is that if you use an oil that isn't within specifications, the dealership would have fair grounds to deny any warranty work if anything happens to your engine.

As long as you're in a warmer climate, I wouldn't worry too much about damage, but you will lose some efficiency. The dealer could and likely will deny your warranty should anything happen, even if it wasn't from the different oil. I would just try and sell it and use what's recommended.

Ya I was thinking the same . I guess I just shouldn’t be cheap and buy the right oil .

I'm sure you could sell the other oil on eBay or something, especially if it isn't opened

No it’s at work in 55 gallon drums . There is always plenty left over so I use it in all of my cars . I’m just worried the multi air system may not work properly if the oil is the wrong viscosity.

Oh I see. Yea if they were me I wouldn't chance it. I was thinking it was in 5 quart containers like what you'd get from the store

I would think you would be ok with a thicker oil in a warmer climate like So Cal. But hey just my 2 cents.

Maybe you could use it lawn mowers, ATVs, and other such 4 cycle engines.
