I would like to do something a bit different and add some canbus friendly single, bright LED lights at the ends of the X's in my headlamps (four in each to be used in conjunction with the DRLs.

    1. Looking for input on what LED lamps to use
    2. Looking ideas on how it should be switched?
    3. Use a relay or not?
    4. Perhaps wire them to the DRL light harness and switch? (my preferred method) or not?
    5. Is this idea viable or not? I haven't had the assemblies out yet, is there room for this mod?

Arrows indicate the positions where I want to put the LED's

I for one, like the idea. But I am a one of a kind, kind of person anyways.

...I though those headlights came with LEDs in the "X"? ... pre-wired for DRL? (click here for my example)

I haven't had any luck using LED's (CANBUS or not), for flickering, staying on dimly until the BCM powers down (they will come back on (dimly) when the BCM performs a system check), and setting a "Bulb Out" error code without using a resister. IMO a resister will be required.

Plugging/splicing into the DRL harness would be the way to go, and might keep the LED's from doing any of the above mentioned, because the DRL incandescent bulbs would still be present. And, if you replace the DRL's with LED's you are going to need to use resisters anyways, just add the headlight LED's on the down side (LED side) of the resisters.
