    Hi Y'all,

I have skid plates and rock sliders purchased and on their way.
But, am looking for a front bumper protection. (Not looking for anything with a wench capabilities)

    What do y'all recommend?
    I have a non-TH model.

Links and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Go find some trails.

I haven’t seen anything out there that provides protection that isn’t winch ready.

The AVID CONTOUR Renegade 2.4L Front Bumper that requires the least amount of modification to our Renegades. Even though it has the provisions for a winch, a winch doesn’t have to be installed, and the cable cut-out can be easily concealed with a license plate.

Do a google search for AVID CONTOUR Renegade 2.4L Front Bumper to see some pics, AVID doesn’t do a good job of showing off their products.

The challenge with A non-TH model is that you don't have access to the front tow hooks which most of the bull-bar style protection uses for mounting (like the Rocky Road Outfitters units).
Replacing the bumper is the only way I personally have seen for non-TH units. Maybe someone else will chime in.

That is the bull bar I have. To be more clear, non-trailhawk actually means 2.4L non-trailhawk. If you have the 1.4L, there are other issues mounting this bull bar. Nothing an angle grinder can't fix.

Also looking into the front of my 1.4L. What do you mean by "issues"? I am trying, in-vain, to understand how anything will be mounted to the front of a 1.4L vs. a 2.4L. I'd like to just put a pair of frame mounted hooks in, as I don't really need a bar. Do you have any pictures of the front with the bumper off at all?

The same issue has haunted me with my 1.4L. I don't think there's a simple solution. Avid makes a steel front bumper for the 1.4, but it seriously blocks the air flow to the lower cooler. I'm not going to sacrifice my engine for recovery hooks.

The closest I've seen is in the thread below. A Chinese company makes a good looking kit, but it's only available for the China market. It may be possible to fab something similar. Click on a picture in this thread, you'll see pictures of the 1.4 with the bumper off.

I have seen that one via google search before, thanks as I had forgotten about it. Definitely an option, but without it being commercially available, idk how I would feel designing my own. The other problem would be that those are not the largest bolts that they're pulling in shear. I would rather have something pulling in tension, or shackles that are rated for that. I like the contour idea and cut the plastic myself as that is non-structural. At some point I would like a full bumper, but seeing as the non-TH ones can't be in water deeper than 12in, it's not high on the priority list.
