    Hello everyone,

This morning on my way into work, my stereo randomly shut off 4 times, and displayed a message on the instrument panel: "Audio System not available".

I have a 2016 Renegade Trailhawk with the 5.0 UConnect Audio system.
The unit would shut off, then the message would appear, and after about 20 seconds, it would come back on, as if you just started the vehicle, and display the Uconnect disclaimer.

I skimmed through the user manual, and did not see anything pertaining to this error.
Has anyone else had this issue?

It's pretty weird... The system is integrated into some of the important stuff in the car as well. This kind of thing makes me pretty nervous... I'll make sure to pass along anything I find out here as well.

I had the same thing happen this morning on my 2016 Renegade Trailhawk with the 5.0 UConnect Audio system. When I first start the vehicle this morning I could not turn on the radio. There was a small audio system not available in the IP that ultimately went out then the radio could be turned on. What happened to you happen to me twice this morning. I also had a moment where I could not shut off the system. None of this has happened before. I also looked in the owners manual and there was nothing. I will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

I called the UConnect support number 1-877-855-8400 to ask about the issue I encountered.

The representative said that is a known issue, , as they have been getting numerous calls today, and it is not just affecting the renegades, but a lot of uUconnect systems.

They are currently working on publishing a KB article about it, but it is not available yet, so she explained that the issue is caused by the Bluetooth connectivity to the Uconnect system.

Disconnecting your mobile device from the Radio should stop the problem from happening.
They are working on a software/firmware update that will fix the issue, and systems that are cellular equipped will receive the update OTA, but for other users they will be sending the fix to dealerships, and they will be able to apply the fix. Your dealership should be contacting you once they receive the fix.

Thanks for getting this info from the support center. One thing about this morning for me is that I did not have my IPhone with me today when this all happened. Is there something that I need to do to the radio to disconnect my Phone from the radio?

This happened to me during my commute as well. I also have a 2016 Trailhawk. Before this morning, I never had an issue with anything in this vehicle.

I'm looking forward to UConnect's resolution of this issue.

just don't connect you phone via bluetooth to the Uconnect radio. Either remove the device from the bluetooth menu in the radio, or just turn the bluetooth on your phone off, so it does not connect.

Thanks for this. I will just turn off my bluetooth on my phone for now. I called the Uconnect support a bit ago and the person I talked to was not aware of the issue so he couldn't provide much help. I did pass on that someone in his support group was aware of the problem. It makes me wonder why all of a sudden this morning this is happening to probably many with 5.0 radios. I am going to take it into a dealer tomorrow so they run their diagnostics and find out what has been communicated to them about this issue.

Just as a note, my 2015 streamed Pandora without issue this morning. Idk if that helps pinpoint the issue but ill toss that out there.

2015 trailhawk with 5.0, bluetoothed Android Marshmallow phone. Again I didn't have this problem

I had the same thing happen on my commute today twice - very odd. Thanks for posting - I thought I might have a short or something.

Mine was back to normal today with no intervention on my part. I'd love to hear from an insider on what the story may be...

It was on another thread, and it looks like it was an OTA satellite update that threw a wrench in the works temporarily.

    From other thread:

    Hi everyone!

Yesterday, owners of vehicles with the Uconnect 5.0 system (RA2 sales code) may have experienced a condition where their radio would freeze and restart repeatedly. This condition was caused by an update to the Satellite Radio signal, that the radio could not handle. As of 1:00 PM EST (January 30, 2017), the situation has been resolved and your radio should function normally again.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. If you are still experiencing any concerns please let me know ASAP!

My radio is now working as before and there is no problem when using Bluetooth. Great job getting this resolved so quickly.

Same issues here for two days with silent radio, frozen controls, and the warning sign; and then today all was well and working. I guess I got the same buggy OTA update and then fix. But, now I wonder, just how much OTA control do "they" have on my vehicle as I drive down the road? Since so much of the vehicle is electronically controlled e.g. transmission, brakes, 4x4, I wonder am I getting "updates" as I drive that could effect more important things than my radio? Is there a way to turn off auto-updates like I can on my computer?

I have a 2016 Trailhawk. Same thing happened. I also notice my USB/AUX connection would sometimes not work. They tried to tell me I needed a special USB cable... yeah right! Finally got them to look at it and they said there was an update. When they tried to update the system, it not only failed to update but completely crashed the system. They have ordered a new system. I have no system in my Renegade for a least a week :(
