Anyone else have electrical problems w/ 2015 sport model?

I have a 2015 sport, 6spd, with about 70k miles on it. Last week I went to start it, all the electronics came on, but car wouldn't start. Took the key out but none of the electronics would shut off. Multiple error messages, check engine light, service airbags etc.

Took it in to my mechanic, he said there was no mechanical issues and to take it to the dealer. Had to wait a week to get in with the dealer, meanwhile every time I go to start it, it does the same thing, and if I'm lucky enough to get the engine started, when i take the key out, the engine still runs for a minute or two. I'm no mechanic, but I'm suspecting the ignition switch, I even found another thread of a guy with the same issues claiming to have fixed it by replacing ignition switch.

Dealer has had the car for 3 days now, is telling me they think an animal chewed through a wire and it'll be about $100 an hour to trace out and find where the damage is and somewhere around $800 just to diagnose the issue. I'm doubtful that this is the real issue and don't want to pay that much just to be told that wasn't the problem.

Just wondering if anyone has a solution? I've found multiple people with similar issues but cannot find a remedy.

    Thanks

I also have a 2015, 6spd. I am pushing close to 100k mi and I will completely agree that these cars have electrical gremlins. I usually fix mine by unplugging the battery for a couple hours and whatever it is usually clears up by then. I've had the clutch pedal assembly replaced and that's the biggest thing that's happened to it. I also agree it sounds like the ignition switch, but that's gonna be tough to fix yourself. I would attempt another dealer if you have one within driving distance and see what they say. Stealerships are the worst, but sometimes you find okay ones. If you can find a local import shop that'll tackle it, I would recommend that, but that may be hard depending on where you are.

Just some other points of note: make sure you change the gearbox fluid sooner than the manual suggests. Mine was real bad by the time I got to it, and the shifting has been better since. I would say somewhere between 40-50k miles is probably good, though I also drive in mountains and desert heat, so YMMV. Also keep an eye on oil, if you don't already. Mine likes to eat 1/4 of a quart every 1000 miles or so.

Good luck with the gremlin. If it wasn't for the fuel mileage and amenities, I would've sold mine and continued driving my old truck, but some things are worth dealing with.
