2015 Jeep Renegade MPG Fuel Economy

    My '08 JKU has managed 25mpg highway, factory stock, but typically gets 22mpg. In town (more mixed) tends to run 17. I don't bother checking when I go to Rousch Creek. For me it looks like a 50% improvement, but that's still a lot better than the JKU. I'm betting I could push even the Renegade Trailhawk over 35 on the highway without even trying.

    Like you, I don't doubt it especially if you were to get the smaller 1.6L motor with a manual transmission.

    I think the new dry-clutch automatics can offer equivalent capability. I'm driving a Fiat 500 as my in-town car now and average between 28 and 32 with a relatively heavy foot. I actually do better when I use the 'optional' manual shift mode (which the Renegade 9-speed includes according to reports). True auto when you want it with the choice of easy manual gear select in hilly country where people complain about these transmissions 'hunting' too much.

    No kidding, that's interesting to know especially being that the Renegade shares a lot with the 500. Thanks for sharing that with us.

    Motor Trend just published an article with some EPA fuel economy numbers and here's what they had to say. Pretty much what we already knew but, being that there's still nothing on Jeep's website, I figured it was still worth the post.

    For what it is I am happy with the mpg. It isn't 40 but it is exactly what I get in my current daily.

    I'm with you. No matter how I look at it, it's still 15-20 MPG more than what I'm seeing with my JK's.

    Okay, so I just did a quick Google check and it looks like they have official numbers now and it's 22 city and 31 highway. Pretty much what we've all been thinking for a while now.

    I'd love to see a 15-16 gallon tank. At 25mpg it's just 300 miles.

    LOL!! 300 miles is a whole 100 miles more than what we get with our JK's that have 22.5 gallon tanks!! If you keep the stock wheels and tires and keep the speedo at 65 MPH, I guarantee that you will get closer to the 30 MPG mark too.

    After seeing the underside pics that wayoflife posted in the other thread, I'm surprised there was room for the gas tank it currently has. A bigger one would probably mean a bit longer vehicle.

    Took the wife's toaster on a trip the other day. At 60mph it got 34.5mpg. At 75mph it was getting 26mpg. I thought that was pretty good.

    That's real impressive. Don't think we've ever been able to get the average above 29 on ours but I bet we could if we drove slower.

    Renagade latitude, 1.4 turbo, 6 speed manual. 240 mile trip started on the the Connecticut coast (sea level) up to the Berkshires in mass (1600 ft elevation) about 1/3 of the trip was highway driving, 1/3 country roads and the rest was city driving. If the trip computer can be believed I averaged 36.9 mpg. Pleasantly surprised.

    That is just awesome! I so wish I could have gotten a manual with my Trailhawk. Thanks for posting up your real world experiences with MPG.
