I was in california for 5 days and decided to leave my car at the dealership so they can work on replacing the radio. when I pulled the car out of the driveway when I got back, I noticed the RPM go up then come back down. I thought it was weird but didn't make a big deal out of it. a couple days later I started to notice that it was taking more effort eventually it wouldn't go faster than 10 miles per hour. they took it in the dealership and they told me it was a failed clutch. this is my second manual owned, and I was confused how that could have happened with such low milage. I know its not right to assume, but all I could think about was. what if one of the porters decided to learn manual trans on my car? or something happened to it while it was there, since I had zero issues with it before. they want 2100 to replace it, and I was told thats with a discount..... Im mad and truthfully very disappointed. I don't know where to go from here. any suggestions?

my clutch was on the harder side, i've noticed others talking about it too.

I have heard of another guy losing his clutch fairly early too. Makes me worries as I only have 7000 miles on my 1.4t 6speed. What rpms do you usually let your clutch out when leaving from a stop in first gear? And when you lost the clutch was the clutch pedal feel different than usual?

Contact Jeep Wave or Chrysler Customer Care or try to work your way up through dealership management, usually after sales area managers can have some pull.

I worry a little bit about mine, since it does take higher RPMs to get it going reliably from a stop. I try to be as easy on it as possible, but it consistently needs to start out at about 1.5K RPM to get rolling.

My Renegade is in the shop right now at 15004 miles because the clutch went out. The dealership quoted $3800 to replace. I bought it just over a year ago. I'm mad and disappointed as well.

I'm just past 40k miles now and still no problems. At first I did notice myself slipping the clutch a little too much. My solution was to let out the clutch a little more abruptly once at the friction point. You have the get the throttle just right to keep from stalling, but riding the clutch is way worse. Also, I never ever try to launch over 2500RPM. If the turbo spools when the clutch isn't fully engaged, you can pretty much kiss the clutch goodbye. Hopefully one of the companies who makes a clutch/pressure plate for the dodge dart will adapt one for the renegade. A more aggressive compound would help a lot.

I have an appointment for mine next week. I have 7700 miles, and mine is not slipping, however it is grinding going into 3rd gear, and the shifts are harder than when I bought the Jeep new in September. To me it feels like a bleed job of the slave cylinder should take care of things, but I still want to make "record" of this EARLY with the dealership, so it is documented in case of future issues.

15004 miles and they're not covering it under warranty?
