I suspect this is a software issue and will be easily resolved... The traction control in my latitude seems to engage at odd times. The closest thing to a pattern I've identified is that it tends to pull power when turning at an intersection where the second half of the turn is on a down slope. It's not much of an inconvenience, but the engineer in me wants to understand what's happening. I'm guessing the stability assist program is just a little too conservative.

Mine has now done the same thing on two different occasions at the same intersection: stop sign, right-hand turn, down-hill slope after the turn. The TC light comes on and blinks for about 10 seconds and the vehicle loses power.

I have an appointment for Thursday to have the dealer take a look. In the meantime, I've found others have had the same problem.

    Kori,

Thanks. Hopefully the appointment on Thursday will take care of it. If not, I'll definitely let you know.

    Kori, et al.

I took the Renegade to the dealer. They found a few software updates but couldn't replicate the problem with the TC, nor was it producing any code. The guy I spoke with (who was very helpful) said it may very well be "normal" for the Jeep. When it senses the turn/roll it trips the TC sensor and reduces power. I asked if it was possible to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor and he said "no".

I explained that while it may be "normal" it isn't what you expect/need the vehicle to do, especially on dry/clear pavement. If I had attempted to jump into heavy traffic making that right-hand turn at that moment, I would expect/need speed. The vehicle losing power at that moment could have caused an accident.

He understood but there wasn't much he could do. He said if it happened again to give him a call and he would order a new sensor module and have it installed to see if it helped resolve the problem. Otherwise, he said it was possible one of the various software updates might help.

I guess we're back to waiting and seeing.

Ok. If it does happen again, let me know, and I can escalate to STAR as well.

Mine does the same. At rare moments. No pattern recognized. But it is annoying and has happened about three times in the past three months I've owned mine.

Damn, sounds very similar to mine. Mine started after updates both times, last summer when they did updates after the first month, ended up replacing the transmission and it started again in April or May after updates again. I don't have to be turning but it's after a drive across town and I stop for a drink, gas or something simple. I go to leave and it might roll 5'-15' before responding to the accelerator. Worst was the trip to Crown King in May. I stopped to wait for the others to come up the 3rd optional line, when I started it back up I had my foot to the floor for 10 seconds and I saw the traction control light flashing. Dealer didn't find any codes and hard to get it to do it on a test drive. Customer care had to step in to get it to stay in the shop and see if they can find out what's wrong or they would send me home in it...

I had the same issue 2 times. It's a matter of time, there will be a recall for this. Not sure if this goes away when the traction control is turned off.
