    Hello All!,
Any issues known with performance drop in filters? I keep hearing the grumble about K&N and MAF sensors. Has anyone experienced any issues? I was actually thinking of using dry flow from AEM.
Silly question, is there anyway to get a nice louder growl from the intake without spending an arm and leg? I’m on a strict budget at the moment.
Right now the Jeep is completely stock 16’ sport 1.4L m6speed.
    Thanks all!

I have been using the K&N in all of my Jeeps & 4x4s for over 30 years and never any problems.

Any drop-in air filter even replacement cold air intake system tend to play havoc on Mas Air Flow Sensors (MAF) if they use an oil based filter. The oil acts as a tacking agent designed to grab fine particles of dirt and hold onto it until the air filter is cleaned. The problem is, the oil, if applied heavily can be sucked off of the filter and stick to the MAF.

A dry filter is a good option, or if you go with a filter that requires oiling, clean the filter and only apply a very light coating of oil.

I use and have used K&N filters without issues, probably because I don’t over oil the filter.

I've exclusively used K&N filters for the last 20+ years and have never had an MAF issue either. Those reports could be the over-oiling as others have said.

On the side of the air filter box is a evap line. Disconnecting it makes a very loud turbo sound. Dealer broke mine when they changed the filter.

Use caution with changing the air intake arrangement as reduced filtration shortens the life of the turbo and engine.

Was there a factory option for K&N filters? My new to me '16 TH has both intake and cabin K&N's and everything else is box stock. I've used K&N in dirt bikes for years with no issues, was happy to find them in the TH.

    No, user upgrade.

Both of my filters are K&N also.

How do you like the K&N's? I have been thinking about trying a K&N air filter.

I like K&N filters, yes. I even use their oil filter (K&N HP-1017).
I buy them in bulk because the wife's 2018 Ram 1500 4X4, 5.7 Hemi uses the same oil filter. lol

There are folks who swear K&N's will let too much pass but I ran them on dirt bikes for years and never had an issue (and plenty of dirt!) They are pricey but worth it I think.

There's a Youtube on filter performance. I found this very interesting.
