From all the research I have done I'm pretty sure TH owners will be able to run a 235/65R17 with a one inch spacer to keep the tire from hitting the strut

Im buying the 225/65R17 KO2 tires on saturday and being installed on saturday. do I need to do the pinch seam mod for this size tire ? I don't want to drive it home rubbing the entire time.

Thank you very much for that step by step article. I'm going to try it tomorrow and see if it'll clear my 255 55 18. It rubs pretty hard when I turn completely other than that just barely rubbing.

Rehashing an old post, 2015 Renegade Trailhawk

I have the Avid 1.5" kit ready to be installed as soon as next week. I'm going to go with Atturo Trailblade x/t 235/65r17 on stock TH rims. The tires on your red Renny are 29.3", the Atturos are 29". Anyone know if I'll need to pinch mod? I do have Rocky Road outfitters bullbar and a Smittybilt 9.5k xrc winch on the front. I was thinking perhaps 1" supreme suspension wheel spacers, but I'm unsure and I've gotten mixed answers if I will need them.

I have the Atturo Trailblade X/T's with 2" ATP spacer lift, Eibach springs and 2" wheel spacers. I had to do the pinch seam mod. Another thing you have to make sure your tires clear is the fog light housing if you have fog lights, before I added the Eibach springs my tires rubbed on that housing at full turn.

Avid 1.5 lift, 235/65R17 Atturo and no rub at all. No spacers.

IMG_0465.JPG Great pinch seam write up. Eventually I'll get my 2.5" lift on- just need some down time to do it. For the time being I have installed wheel spacers and today I modified the pinch seam. Going to install the 235/65 17's before the lift so I did the mod like above but folded over the remaining seam a lot higher, slapped seam sealer on it and sprayed it with some Alpine white paint in a rattle can. Going to take my heat gun to the inner fenders to push them back where the seam used to be. If it rubs after that I'll be going back to stock tires until the lift.

yep! or rather, I did have them, ran about 28,000 miles with them with zero issues even with doing a lot of offroading. I have a set of wheels now that have just about the same offset I was getting with the spacers. I was thinking about selling them, they are still in great shape.

What wheels are you running now to get the offset you are referring to?

the stock wheels have a +40 offset. I am now running a set of Moto Metal M0970 wheels with a Zero offset. in comparison to the stock wheels these are effectively about 1.65 inches further out, so not quite as much as the 2" spacers but it made it so I didnt need them for my 235/65R17 Atturo TrialBlade XT's

Hello Wayolife, I know this thread is kind of old. But regarding your mod., is that all you still need to do ? Now lately it seems I'm seeing a lot of right ups vids, etc where people are cutting along the whole seam in like 1 inch spaces then pounding them back in ? Think I'd rather do it your way looks cleaner and less work involved. If you get this, any thoughts ?

I like it so much! I would like to install 225/75/R16 SST Pro like you in my Renegade but I have seconds thoughts about the pinch seam mod for car's body structural integrity! I'm afraid of harming its durability! What's your opinion on this please? :)

Any more info about the plates that cover the pinch seam on 2016 and up? I just discovered I have a plate covering mine on the driver's side just before dropping it off at the mechanic for the mod, so I just told him to take the plate off. I guess that's...fine? o_O
