Found a beautiful set of wheels that I really like and won't break the bank. I think the size is ok (17x8), but I wonder about a +50mm offset. What do you guys think? I'll be running the 1.5 Avid Lift, and maybe some 225s or 235s. Will those wheels work?
From the research I have done (but not from experience). I don't think those will work. The standard offset is +40 on only a 6.5 wide wheel. You are going to an even wider 8" wheel which automatically increases your "backspacing" calculation. But in addition to this you have increased your offset in the wrong direction...you added 10mm to your backspacing calculation. Your standard backspacing is 5.30" Your new calculation with your new wheels would be roughly be 6.375" to 6.5" So you would need roughly a 1.25" spacer minimum to get back to a "normal" position so you don't crash into the Strut Brace/Tower. My 2 cents...pretty much all it is worth though. Wait for some more experience guys to comment. But just side note...as you go wider on the wheel you want to find an offset that is LESS than +40. Less than like +36 0r +20, this moves the wheel outward to the body side and not closer in (strut side). Helps to get a wider wheel under the car with less of a spacer...if needed. Zulu
Thanks for the reply, Zulu. As I read and did more research, I kind of came to that same conclusion. I think I would like to find wheels with nearly a zero offset, then I could have them pushed out of the fender wells more. Problem is, those types of wheels are expensive.
Yes...they are...not to mention try finding one with a 5x110 bolt pattern. Pretty much nothing out there. Wheel manufacturers just dont make this combo we need. Check my thread under the tire section... But yes these are expensive. 200.00 a wheel Zulu

Going through a similar situation with deciding on adapters for my build. My go to spot for tire size and offset calculation https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ , you can see the difference but of course not all suspensions are designed the same. So In the end i'll have to do some actual measurements because ill be dropping 30" tires on a 4.0 lift. I'll be using JK Hardrock wheels with adapters.
After measuring for a bit 30" is definitely max with pinch seem mod. To get to 31 inch I would need to: - Cut the mounting bracket for the side trim that goes under the door - Also cut back that trim piece away from the wheel well - Then I would need to add a couple screws to hold the wheel well liner back so it doesn't flap against the tire on turns (probably optional)
