I am hoping someone out there has experienced and a solution for our issue. My Wife has a 2016 Renegade TH. We are the first owners of this vehicle and we have 2 sets of keys (Fobs). With both Fobs, none of the buttons are working... Unlock/Lock/Remote Start/Panic.... NOTHING. The fob will work for the keyless entry and push start ignition. I have changed out the Fob Battery, Removed & hooked up the Neg Cable from the vehicle Battery with zero success. We have taken it to the Jeep Dealer, they said they did a software upgrade and reprogrammed the fob which they claimed fixed the problem, but when my wife tried the remote start the following morning, nothing worked. One Note.. the remote start and lock/unlock seems to work after the vehicle has been driven for a little while. But if it sits for a few hours nothing on the Fob will work. Please help if you can.
have you tried relearning the fobs rfid? get in car, press non-key end of fob to the start button to start car. worth a try
one end of your fob has the emergency key/glove box key, the other end is just plastic. the chip is towards this plastic end
Anybody ever get this fixed?. My TH is doing exactly as Dennys description. By the time you have driven to the dealer its working again. Thanks
All, Everything works just fine now. But I’m not 100% on the fix. I’ve tried the relearning thing that “Canadian” suggested but it didn’t work for us. We also tried something we found on the internet like pushing buttons outside the vehicle, then sitting in the driver seat pushing buttons on the doors, then getting out of the vehicle and trying the Fobs... didn’t work. With 3 visits to the dealer and a rental car later the Fobs still didn’t work. My wife talked to the head service manager,(the guy we dealt with the entire time with this issue) and told him nothing changed. He claimed that he will call Chrysler and have them do a remote satellite reset. I didn’t believe anything this guy was saying at this point. I didn’t know that was a thing. It probably isn’t. So I went to the store and bought another set of fob batteries and replaced them for a 2nd time. It worked that night, but my wife recently drove it so that was a tainted test. Since they worked after us was driven. The next morning the Fobs worked flawlessly and as ever since. My wife said that everything inside was reset... all of her setting and saved radio stations were gone. Could that have been the remote satellite reset from the company, maybe. Could it have been a coincidence, sure. I would try another set of batteries just in case. If that doesn’t work. Ask the dealer if there is anything Chrysler can do as a remote satellite reset. Hope this helps.
Cheers Denny. Funny iyou say the reset it was after a re flash it started doing it. I have since found it takes an hour locked to stop working. Passive entry ign on off resets it working again so it looks like the rf side is going to sleep after an hour. At least I can re create this now and show the dealer.
Might have found a fix if your fob wasn’t working. Just bought my 2017 Jeep Renegade this week. The fob would work randomly and the Jeep would say the fob has left the car when I opened a door. Turns out one of the workers at the dealership had put the fob battery in upside down. Switched them and the fob worked perfectly.
