Help... three times now, I've been in traffic and lost complete power to the transmission, as if the vehicle went in to neutral. First time, I hit a pothole turning left on flat ground, and for about 2 seconds I had no throttle power, and simply drifted. I figured it was a wacky stabilization response and didn't think too much about it. Then, a few weeks later I was turning left, up an incline, across traffic, when the vehicle stopped responding and with the accelerator down, I was left drifting with oncoming traffic. I slammed the brake which brought the vehicle to a sudden stop, waited for the traffic to go around me, then when I pressed the gas again, I had power. Less than 15 minutes following this, I turned left, up hill, and stopped in front of a stop light. When it was time to go, I pressed the accelerator, and had no response, as if it was in neutral. I tried again, and nothing. I pressed the gear selector to manual to see what gear was not catching, only to get a message in the main screen instructing me to place the vehicle in Park. At this point, vehicles were beginning to reroute around me. Not knowing any better solution, I placed the vehicle in Park, then back to Drive, and then I had power again. I'm driving a 2016 TH, with 3500 miles. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I love the vehicle, but as for now, I won't let me wife or daughter drive it out of safety concern. Take it to your dealer immediately. Either you're bumping the lever into neutral somehow, or you have a software issue.
This has been mentioned before. There is a discussion about it but not sure if it is on this forum or another. I will try to find it and post a link to the discussion.
I found it but for some reason I can't copy the link. Do a search in google "jeep renegade loses power on turn". The discussion should be the first article from the search. Traction control comes on and engine loses power. There is a TSB that was released 12/10/16 that fixes the issue. Contact your dealer. Hope this helps.

Update: I took my Renegade to the dealer with the above information. They updated the software, and, so far, I haven't had the same issue. Sent from my SM-G935V using ToasterJeep mobile app
Yeah I had it happen to day when I was making a left turn. The traction light came on there was no slippage just loss of power. If it happens again I'll be at the dealer quicker than they can blink. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
Hi rsherman, Your concern could be related to this TSB: "NUMBER: 05-001-16 REV. Thank you if it happens again I'll be sure to get to the dealership I drive a lot. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
I've now had the same event happen again following updates. I was making a turn, hit a pothole, and saw the traction light come on as I instantly felt a loss of power. I knew it was happening again, so I floored the gas and recieved absolutely no response, and then counted 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, and then felt power begin to slowly came back. Is this an expected reaction to lose all power for 3 seconds? I've never had another vehicle act like this. Sent from my SM-G935V using ToasterJeep mobile app
IMO you have to go and get it fixed ASAP. Guy who works for me got hit from driver side-behind because his jeep stalls for few seconds and lost power while at the intersection turning on somebody's lane. It was his fault according to the cop because he was cutting into the guy's lane and did not speed up. That split second is very crucial sometimes... and you don't want to do that in front of a lifted 5 ton full size pickup truck.
Hi Jamin-J, I'm sorry to hear this happened again! Please let me know if you decide to revisit your local dealership, I'd be happy to follow up with them for you. Andrea Jeep Social Care Specialist
And... it happened again, in thick traffic, and made for a bad scene. The last update seemed to help, but... this week I was driving in a bad rain storm, with about an inch of water on the road, and it was 4:30PM and rush hour traffic was still steady. With traffic all around me, I made a left hand turn, in a double left hand turn lane, and it happened... the traction light came on and I lost all power. I pressed the gas for power, and counted 1 Mississippi, 2 mississippi, 3 mississippi, 4 mississippi, 5 mississippi, then the power came back. BUT during that 5 seconds I had other traffic, in the same one inch of water, having to dart around me! None of them had an issue with the water or the turn, while my Jeep slowed in moving congested traffic. Now I'm concerned and embarrassed by the Jeep. I love so much about it, but this is the third time I've almost caused a traffic accident because my Active Drive goes inactive. Anyone, anyone, anyone have any ideas what to do? Get this all the time on my diesel TH lots of torque downs t junctions speed bumps etc i have the latest sw as well. Its just poor calibration from fca. The bosch 9 system is used on lots of other brands and is nowhere near as intrusive. I also get neutral using the eco stop start no drive just revs and a lurch when it decides to engage. Again I have all the latest updates. Just slack engineering from Fiat. Sent from my LG-H340n using ToasterJeep mobile app
I am dropping my Renegade off at dealership in morning. It threw a couple codes and I will post what was done to correct this issue. 3.5 to 4 seconds a car going 60 travels the length of a football field, so be careful pulling out into traffic. Sent from my VS990 using ToasterJeep mobile app

No issues with dealership, Bennett Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in Kingsland, GA. Will pick up after work and share what was found and corrected. No other issues with my 2016 Renegade Latitude with 16,000 miles. Correction required no replacement parts. Sent from my VS990 using ToasterJeep mobile app
OK here goes; First, flashed the ABS module to address turning loss of power issues when turning. Second, flashed PCM to address shifting problem. Stuttering between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd. Third, recalibrated AC actuator to address fluxuating fan speed on AC. So far no reoccurences. I will update if any problems return. Hope this helps. Sent from my VS990 using ToasterJeep mobile app
Update. I took my '16 TH to the shop a couple weeks ago for this issue, and there was a TSP for it, that it seems came the same week I had it in before. I thought it was fully updated, but maybe not. I understand they updated me with: TSB NUMBER: 05-002-17 GROUP: Brakes DATE: February 22, 2017 I'm almost another 500 miles down the road and so far, so good.
