    A Polaris ATV is not set up for highway or pavement use, and the vehicle is a lot lighter-weight to boot. I have a feeling that this portal axle setup is not intended for on-pavement use, and wouldn't handle the weight of a fully highway compliant vehicle.

    I would be hesitant to try something like this, I'd wait for others to work the bugs out for me.

    I believe Pinzgaurs have portal axles. I also believe UniMogs have portals. They are heavier than a Renegade. They are both slow as hell, but they are heavy. I think highway driving could cause some issues with heat, but then again, it's not all that different then a differential found in the center of any axle housing.

    I've seen wranglers with portal axles. Pretty sure humvees do also.
