Anyone know how large of a tire you can go with the atp lift and no spacers? Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
I thought I saw someone running a 2" lift with a 30inch tire Sent from my SM-S820L using ToasterJeep mobile app
My Trailhawk is lifted with the Extreme kit by G-force: 2.16" My tyres are 29.2" and there is no possibility to go further, unless you cut the pinch seam. And even cutting probably you will have rubbing issues in offroad, going with 30" tyres
Well I know with the non trailhawk rig that I posted says it has a daystar 1.5" lift with a 245/65r17 which is a 29.54" tall tire...kinda figured an extra half inch in lift would net you half any inch bigger tire Sent from my SM-S820L using ToasterJeep mobile app
I have the 2" lift, 1.25 spacers and 245's still needed to make room in the wheel well. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
and you have no rubbing issues without trimming the pinch seam ? Even from 3/4 to full lock steering ? You should have a different front axle geometry then.... My TH has 2,16" lift and 0,40" spacer on the front side and it's not rubbing at all. But there is only a little space between the fender and the tyre from 3/4 full lock steering. If I go with a larger spacer it starts rubbing. Good for you then !!!
Well, I did have some rubbing but the hubby modified the well a bit (he is a technician) then we were ok. Took a few tries at full lock but got there! Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
The problem you'll encounter with the bigger tire height is with the strut, not so much the wheel well. You can cut & hammer a wheel well to make that work if you wanted but the edge of the bottom spring perch on the strut hangs over the tire. From pics I've seen on here, the 235/65s with AT treads are pretty dang close to that spring perch. Tire width clearance can be helped with spacers but you'd probably have to space it dangerously far to get a 30" tire to not hit that spring perch. I wouldn't advise cutting into that perch for clearance so somebody is going to need to produce a redesigned lengthened strut to safely clear a 30" IMO. I did the lift on the white TH above. With the spacer and the 245s, it is far enough away from the spring perch for my comfort level. I'll grab a pic of it this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
The 245/65 is still a 29.5" tire. I'm sure that will fit ok. But to get to a 30" you're going to need at least an extra 1/4" of space in there, depending on how aggressive your tire tread is. That's more what I was talking about. People seem to keep talking the pinch weld on here but they aren't taking the suspension design into consideration as well. I did see a pic somewhere of somebody or some company that grinded into the spring perch to fit a bigger tire and I just don't want people to think grinding a spring perch & throwing 2" spacers on is acceptable for a daily driver. Especially if you're also going to be beating on it off road, which is the point of the modifications in the first place. You're just asking to break a wheel bearing or a spacer, which would end pretty badly.
