Hey folks I was wondering if anyone has installed a holster or something to conceal a firearm in there Renny yet? I have been tossing up a few ideas but would like to see what other people have done.
Not the renegade, but would probably apply... An acquaintance years ago had installed a pistol safe in his Explorer, the safe used chromoly U-bolts that wrapped around the frame and punched up through holes in the floorboard and then in the safe. The chromoly is far tougher than grade 8, and basically it would've been easier to cut the vehicle's frame than to cut the U-bolts. Given that the Renegade is unibody but does have some multiple-layer sandwiched sheet metal to act as something of a frame it should be possible to do a similar thing.
This just came in the mail a couple days ago and I've been testing it out. Is cool in theory, though has limitations: 1. Would best conceal 380. G19 is just barely too big. 2. No stickum on the bottom to grip the seat. If you move, the holster moves with you. 3. I'm still working out how to get the straps to fit securely around the seat. The seat is bulky, the straps and plastic clips are just barely large enough to fit the Rene seat. 4. Can holster gun, one mag, a knife, a thin flashlight, and sharpie, which is cool. Not 100% sold on it yet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XTNYKN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_N4.czbH777FZB Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
I just picked my renegade up this AM. Got it back to the house, and started experimenting. The secret squirrel storage under the back gate where the panels should go fits my AR's perfectly, I'll probably get some foam the size of the entire area and cut out to make it immovable, but it's great for concealing. The center console is deep enough for my FNX-45 tactical, but I'll probably just use a kydex attached to the wall for my p320C. I hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
This is what I ended up doing. It turned out pretty good i don't hit anything driving or getting in/out. I velcroed the knife and the bottom part of the holster the velcro didn't stick to the holster very good. In the future I plan to make a kydex holster for the knife and gun.
DVLLSN: about the same setup i am using, velcroed a holster inside the console. AYOST: nice setup but two issues, you block the knee airbag. And perhaps the most important, that rig may not be legal in certain states. One important question remains, how to secure the personal defense device. Has any one tried fitting a JK specific lock box/console vault into their renny? I'm curious just how different the dimensions are. I'd like a clean setup that securely attaches to the jeep with bolts instead of a flimsy cable.
