The MySky power roof went out on my 2015 Trailhawk. I purchased the Mopar extended warranty. Thank God because the repairs are gonna be almost 6k. They have to replace the whole roof. The steel pan the MySky panel sits on became disconnected from the track. They dont have parts for that hence the whole roof replacement. The whole process has been a pain. Now I have to wait for Chrysler/Mopar to send a rep out to inspect it to make sure the dealership diagnosed the correct problem because the repairs are so much.
As an aside I purchased the extended warranty through Mopar and it is paying off. I got a rental while I wait for the inspection (Wrangler) and i get a rental while they do the repairs. All for about $1500. It doubles the factory bumper to bumper for 3 years/60,000 miles.
Anybody else had any warranty issues? I've had to have the tranny replaced also.

All I've had has been a thermostat and the coolant tank. Had a rental for a week(ram 1500) and the dude was so awesome to me. That extended warranty is definitely worth it if you plan on keeping your car

Got my Jeep back today. What an ordeal, originally went to dealership for the issue on April 10th. 2 months later it's fixed. It was there for 8 days waiting for the Chysler inspection and another 7 to do repairs. The entire roof had to be cut off and s new one put on. To take the roof off the headliner had to be taken off. For the headliner to be removed the windshield had to be taken out. Had to paint the roof afterwards. I never would've got the MySky had I known this might happen. It's cool but i take the panels off 2 to 3 times a year. Not worth the issues. What blew me away is that it could've been fixed with a $100 in parts, instead Chrysler authorized an $8k repair. Unbelievable. I'm seriously thinking about trading my Renegade in after this. If it happens once it can happen again. Good thing I had the Mopar vehicle protection or I would have been up a creek. Plus the whole process was painful and unavoidable. Dont know if it reflects Chrysler as a whole or just the dealership, leaning towards the later but...I dont want to find out again. 3rd warranty issue I've had to deal with and all 3 were a headache dealing with everything.

The Sky Panel on my 2016 has had issues for years now. And every time it's been a different excuse: a fuse was blown, then there was debris in the track - once they even told me they'll grease it up for me to make it work. Two months ago - after the full maintenance staff returned to work after NY's shutdown - I brought it back to dealership for them to check it once more - it was shuddering open and barely creeping closed. They assured me it was fixed and working fine. 2 days ago, when reaching for the light switch - I inadvertently pressed the sky panel button only to watch it slowly creep open and continue creeping open - further than it was ever supposed to go and completely off the rails. And there it stays because surprise, surprise - there was something wrong all along. Now they can't even get it to close. The whole bloody thing needs to be replaced - in which the "parts" alone are over $4,000! I started a claim at Chrysler/Dodge/JEEP and the earliest I will hear from someone will be on Tuesday. This is a poorly designed, deeply flawed piece of machinery that JEEP should be completely liable for costs to repair and issue a recall.

My advice to those with Sky Panels: Try to lock it shut and keep them closed - its not worth the headache when something goes wrong and something inevitably will go wrong.

I have the Mopar Extended Vehicle Protection - did they really cover the costs?

They covered it totally. If your original factory warranty has expired and you have the extended factory warranty you will have to pay $100 diagnostic charge. Your MySky was doing the same thing mine was doing. They told me it needed to be greased which they did but it never worked. Cost them over 8k to fix. Had to cut the roof out. Had to take the windshield off to take the headliner out first. The whole roof is siliconed in. Worked perfect after they fixed it. But it was a heck of an ordeal. Because it's over a couple grand Chrysler will want to send a rep to make sure that's what it is wrong. Then they will have to find a part. Then they put it in which takes at least a week. It took almost 2 months from the start of the process until it was fixed. About the only positive was that the extended warranty paid for a rental, a JLU.

Thanks for the reply. Fingers crossed that they will actually foot the bill. I didn't expect to lose my Jeep right before the holidays - or leave it at the dealership at all. I just wanted them to close the dang thing. 2020 really has a lot to answer for...

They'll do it, just takes awhile. Hang in there, the year is almost done. And you're right the power MySky is a horrible design. I don't understand how FCA can roll something out and their solution for fixing a problem is cutting the roof out. If I were to do it again I would just get the non powered panels or nothing at all.

I had my MySky repaired under warranty. The panel was loose from taking the panel off. Reading these comment make me want to get the extended warranty. I’m going to look into this.

Old thread but.....I opened mine once....took it to a dealer and they wanted $100 to tell me it wouldn't close. I got the service manager to help me muscle it closed and there it will stay for as long as I own it. BTW, I wouldn't have bought it but it came with the used TH.

I still like having the MySky panels. I haven’t had any issues with it in a while. Once in a while it doesn’t close all the way. I just grab the handle and give it a little push. I do need to buy some lube for the tracks. I haven’t did that since I bought it almost 3 years now.
