    Howdy folks! Has anyone done a Rugged Ridge grille guard? Wondering how “rugged” it really is. Don’t want a “show grille” that folds if it’s hit by a bird....

    If you mean this monstrosity;

    I'd bet it's well made, given most of the Rugged Ridge stuff I've run on other jeeps has been pretty solid, But I have no personal experience with this particular item.

    Nonetheless, It actually looks to me like it will hurt the approach angle, add a lot of weight to the front (80lbs) and do little to actually protect the grill except push long branches out of the way, and in my opinion, looks out of place on the front of a Renegade.

    It also won't work with Tow Hooks or Front end collision systems.

    If you're talking about a different grill guard, can you link it?

    Zuke, thanks for the response. That is the one as it’s the only full guard I have found. It’s for my wife’s Renegade and it’s an asphalt queen, so no problems with off-road performance. We live in an area where deer frequently dart into the road and just trying to add a little protection where we can.

    I can definitely understand the need for deer protection! Can into a few of those myself.. judging by the materials used and the design, if think it'd be about the best protection you'll find for that scenario..

    I'm always nervous about products designed for impact that distribute the force to places other than the bumper mounts. I've heard horror stories of crash bars turning a minor fender bender into a total loss with a tweaked frame/unibody.
