I've been going back and forth between these two kits. I've read pros and cons to both. Daystar kits claim no cutting, direct bolt on. However, I read in older posts that the mounting angles may be off and cause alignment issues. They are made of polyurethane. Teraflex are billet aluminum and come with sway bar quick disconnects. They claim the spacers compensate for mounting angles to get proper alignment. However, you have to trim trim the strut bracket on this kit. I've read a bunch of back in forth between metal and poly spacers. Does anyone have input on which kit is better? I'm also curious if you can reach the quick disconnects with the fender liner installed.

I emailed Avid about the kit and they sent me some installation instructions. It looks like the kit has sub-frame spacers, charcoal canister relocation bracket, exhaust spacer,etc. Is this a new addition to the kit? From the other post I read on here about the kit, I was under the impression it didn't have sub-frame spacers. Will this reduce the ground clearance compared to not having the spacers?
It strange, because the website doesn't show any of the spacers being included in the 1.5" kit. They're only in the 2". I'm guessing that is the difference. You get about the same ground clearance with the 1.5 and 2" kit, but can fit bigger tires under the 2"
Never mind. The strut spacers on the 2" kit are actually 2.5" in the front and 2.25" in the back. I'm assuming this compensates for the sub-frame spacers and gives you the 2" of ground clearance.
The instructions that were sent to me for the 2" Avid lift doen't have any torque specifications. Would it be safe to use the same torque that are in installation videos of the Terraflex and Daystar kits?
I did. Do a Google search, you can find the Teraflex lift kit instruction. they have the torque spec in them. I tried to send it but it was too large of a file (7.2 mb).
Thanks. I have the Teraflex and the Avid install instructions. I just wanted to double check using the same torque specs would be ok. I thought there may be different tightening requirements based on different brands. Thanks for your help.
I bought the Avid 2" lift last night. Can't wait for it to come in the mail. Any pointers or problem areas I might run across while installing it on a 2016 Trailhawk? I heard the front steering knuckle can be a pain on the front passenger side.
Torque specs shouldn't change. I used the TeraFlex torque specs on my AVID kit. Not too bad, easier if you have a good size prybar or large screwdriver.
thumbs up all the way for AVID. I too had an issue with the passenger side on first install- when adding eibach springs I used the tire place to swap them out for me. there’s a post in modified renegade section page 4 link: https://toasterjeep.com/index.php?threads/installed-avid-lift-with-eibachs-wow.2920/ some good replies for issues with fitting it back and should save you a bit of time I skipped the lowering of the subframe, exhaust and carrier bearing on my install. Might get to it later.. the half-shafts are not that steep and the extra ground clearance is hard to beat.
I'm a bit confused on the replacement rear control arms and rear control arm mounts. I received an email from Anthony at Avid that said I should use the factory control arm when installing the bracket. I'm assuming this is the one that goes forward and backward. Is the replacement control arm the one that goes side to side, somewhat closer to the front of the vehicle?
yes. on the link above page 5 talked about these in particular. in going back and forth with another install I had suggested what I did with my install (and lack of instructions) see below his post and mine installed. the adjustable arms are for Toe correction on the rear end (yes front side of the tire knuckle attachment) take a gander at the posts above perhaps from latest to oldest- should help you plenty. I’m finally going to get around to installing it this weekend. Does it matter if I do the back before the front? I just want to make sure it doesn’t bind anything. I can probably get the back part blown out after work tomorrow night. Unfortunately, I won’t have a second person to help me hold the front strut towers until Saturday.
