Anyone with a Trailhawk or Deserthawk, no mater what color, knows what I'm talking about. For some reason Jeep thought it was a good idea to put a high gloss black stripe above the doors. Unless your Renegade is all black, this stripe just doesn't go with anything else. After 2 years with my white Deserthawk I finally got sick of that gloss and had a friend repaint it with matte black. I wish I had done this sooner because it actually matches the rest of the trim now.
it was one of those things that wasn't really a problem but it just didn't make any sense. The only other piece of trim that is actually painted black is the side mirror caps, and those are matte, so it's really confusing to me as to why they didn't just use that paint for the strip above the doors.
that one I didn't know about, I have the MySky panels and those are a bit glossy as well, I might spray those down with some bed liner. And I don't know why they felt the need to make the roofs of the Trailhawk models gloss black. I actually had a white Renegade Sport before I traded up for the DesertHawk and the Sport model had a white roof and the bar above the doors was white as well, there wasn't a single speck of gloss black anywhere on it, it had a fake chrome grill on it though that I couldn't stand lol.
guys, who can make a photo with doors open? want to see where is the end of that black strips above doors thinking about blacking it out with vinyl
